Baird echoes U.S. on climate deal
Harper heads to Germany to talk environment at this week's summit

BERLIN – Canada appears set to back the American view that any climate-change deal struck at this week's G8 summit will require the participation of developing countries like China and India.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his environment minister arrived Sunday in Europe, where they will attend a pair of world gatherings and also meet the newly elected president of France.

Climate change and curbing greenhouse gas emissions will be front and centre at this week's G8 meeting amid signs of a rift between the U.S. and other countries.

This is the same guy who didn't seem to know who Al Gore was, when Baird virtually challenged him to a debate on global warming.

CBC noted this morning that Harper was being careful not to mention the United Nations at all (even though they're the recognized global organization for brokering multilateral environmental agreements).

2. No surprise there, harper soooo wants to be Blair's replacement
too bad for him, Canadians are not so impressed and this move is, yet again, politically stupid and typical of harper who's political acumen is equal to that of a brick wall, imo.

3. Pay no attention to CO2 at 3X worst-case estimates! Pay no attention to that Persian Gulf Cat 5!
Let's all talk about technology, because if we simply keep saying words like "technology", "carbon trading" and "market mechanisms" long enough, it will surely be enough to tackle those pesky climate problems - which probably don't exist anyway!
