Reporters Group Calls for New Police Unit to Probe Killing of Journos in Iraq

Published: June 01, 2007 1:55 PM ET

BAGHDAD Reporters Without Borders has called for the creation of a special task force and a witness protection program in a bid to crack down on violence against the media in Iraq, with at least five journalists killed in the past week.

"The Iraqi authorities must fulfill their duty to protect journalists," the group said in a statement issued Thursday.

Reporters Without Borders said four Iraqi journalists had been killed by armed groups since May 26. That count did not include an Associated Press Television News cameraman, who was shot to death Thursday during clashes in a Sunni neighborhood in Baghdad.

1. A few years back...
I passed on some information about a dead mercenary to a guy who was investigating such things. He told me that not only was there a low-intensity war going on between the private security firms, he called it "settling of scores", but that they were also doing hit squad work.

FWIW.

2. Babylon, sweet Babylon!
What a massive pile of shit. You've got this huge clusterfuck of private spies and mercs and military all on top of this massively valuable resource (oil supply at the time of peak oil) all of them fucking each other, and killing whoever talks about the fact that they are fucking each other. Then to top it all off, it turns out the very resource the conflict is all about is actually DESTROYING THE WORLD through global warming. Wow. Could it all be any more EVIL?

3. I'm going to post your post as a separate post.
If that's alright with you.

Couldn't have summed it all up any better.

5. Go ahead.
Also, you can free to mention the historical location of Babylon in Iraq, Blackwater having their logo as a "mark" of a "beast" etc. Its such a huge boiling pot of horror that its hard NOT to come up with terrible things when thinking about it!
