Anthrax terror - The CIA has been quietly building a case
Anthrax terror

The CIA has been quietly building a case that the anthrax attacks of 2001 were in fact the result of an international terrorist plot.
U.S. officials with access to intelligence reports tell us the information showing a terrorist link to the anthrax-filled letters sent by mail in the weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks is not conclusive. But it is persuasive.
Asked to comment, a U.S. official said, "There is no evidence at this point to suggest a foreign terrorist link or connection. But the matter is still under investigation and we're not ruling anything out."

I see, so maybe Saddam really did use WMDs against these democrats he hated. Maybe Bush really isn't a war criminal after all... I get it...

1. Reverend Sun Myung Moon Speaks
Just remember that the Washington Times was established by the Reverend Sun Myung Moon. Which begs the question: Who can we trust least, Moonies or Fox News?

15. Excellent point.
Does anyone know what the circulation of the Washington times is?
How many housholds?
It just fascinates me how many people read that paper.

19. Washington Times is very popular
for their Sports section. Has color pictures and everything. A lot of people in the Worshintun area read it daily.

Nobody reads it for the political bullshit, are you kidding me? Its just a place where conservatives writers can be paid handsomely to spout BS that is reprinted elsewhere.

27. Been to D.C. three times past year
never once saw Wash Times on a newsstand. I did come across
my first copy in Dover-Foxcroft ME, and I was so impressed
that I bought it ($2.50)

There will be those who have not noticed that the Wash. Times
is the prima facie evidence of the "vast right-wing
conspiracy", in that it is the very essence of the
"echo chamber" which the right wing has used to
devastating effect for the past 15 years. That is to say, it
has never come close to making a profit and with good reason.
It exists for the sole purpose of allowing Limbaugh et. al. to
quote from it.

Didn't mean to be redundant, but I think we sometimes take too
much for granted among ourselves.

Best example of this is the yellowcake caper. Information not
"reliable", shouldn't have been included, so sorry,
"what's the difference?", etc. Here's the
difference: not only was the info false, it was a FORGERY!
Who forged it? For what purpose? Never mind, we already said
we're sorry.

Lily Tomlin said, "No matter how cynical you get it's
impossible to keep up."

2. so according to the Moonie Times...
the anthrax that was made RIGHT HERE in the allegedly secure Ft Derrick, and distributed to the 2 highest-raking DEMOCRATS in congress, was the work of foreigners?

yeah, that makes sense :eyes:

the fact that NO REPUBLICANS GOT ANTHRAX LETTERS is just a coincidence, I'm sure...

4. of course
it is purely coincidental that the receivers were all democrats.

Either that or it has something to do with God's mighty "Hand of Protection" and the fact that God loves Republicans so much for doing "his work"

8. Ahhhh, she says....
I have said since the beginning of the build up for Iraq war that they must really be in the thick of it not to blame Iraq for the anthrax. After all the shit they were making up the anthrax would have been a much more compelling "gathering" danger.

So they must feel that all the tracks are covered very well and they can start planting the idea. Notice how the article goes from information about anthrax directly into information about Iraq.

wtf...is this: "A report last month to the U.N. Security Council by its Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission concluded that traces of anthrax recovered from a bomb in early 2003 were of the same strain Iraq declared in 1991 it had weaponized. Those were not the Ames strain, U.S. officials said."

Did I miss the fact they found an anthrax bomb in Iraq???

My guess is anyone that could is no longer in a position to speak. The fix is in. Hell, they'll probably even find a nice package of Ames in Iraq in a week or two.

the fuckers make me sick...

"There is *no* evidence at this point to suggest a foreign terrorist link", so the rest of the article is BS.

13. All of the evidence cited is negative.
Interesting logic -- evidence against X leads to a conclusion in favor of X.

But we SHOULD NOT forget the Anthrax issue. Why has it been buried by this adinistration?

23. That would have been Tommy the man who sold the world Thompson
and his now national security classified Dept. of Health & Human Services. Tommy demonstrated his "psychic" abilities all throughout the anthrax attacks starting with hiring Jerome Hauer from SAIC on 9-10-2001 and immediately going to the Cipro after 9-11 well before the anthrax attacks.

It was all the coincidences like this that moved me into the LIHOP camp.

17. Foreign Source for Anthrax?
I'm with the posters on this one. A foreign terrorist connection sounds far-flung.

If that's the story the CIA is spoonfeeding the media now, then can we have Attorney General Ashcroft publicly apologize to Dr. Hatfield (sp?) for destroying his career?

18. LOLOLOLOL!
Yes, it was al Qaeda mailing letters, postmarked from New Jersey, that just *happened* to reach Democrats who QUICKLY changed their minds and voted FOR the 'Patriot' Act once 100,000 spores of Anthrax reached their desk.

Why, oh why, would international terrorists try to murder *Democrats* when the 'Patriot' Act was up for a vote?

LOL, if they Reichwing media whores weren't so pathetic.

25. "No evidence", and yet there is a terrorist link
Huh? I thought that it was determined that the anthrax came from US government labs and was send through the US postal system. The only way that terrorists were involved were if someone from the US government gave it to them.

26. The cultist Moon is allowing testing in his rag...
If the planted story grows legs because no journalist decides to find out where the anthrax bomb came from, the admin can proceed with more propaganda - the best ever - WMD! An anthrax bomb! That's just one step down from a smallpox bomb! Or an eboli bomb! No proof required - just pure Hollywood. Some Americans will love it.

We know Moon wants to take over the world. And we thought those who were trying to take over were the war-mongering cabal - maybe Moon is behind the cabal.

Maybe he is the true author of the 'Best Of Plan' - the Best of nazism, the Best of communism, the Best of dictatorships, the Best of imperialists, the Best of serfdom - all melded and delivered under the veil of 'spoken democracy'. Spoken democracy = democracy preached, but not practised. Smoke and mirrors.

28. not only slanted
but typically shoddy. I had followed the forays of the WT into this arena. Always johhny vcome lately obviously stealing other news outlets for "sources". Vagueness and weakness are rife underneath the heat and finger pointing. The article is actually saying nothing at all. It is still a FBI matter and there is nothing of note in the CIA own interest.

Suggestivity is everything for the WT. It is often amazing actually how timid they are when handling actual facts and sources. Apparently only talking to their own goonish compatriots hither and thither does not make for good reporting.
