Bush Makes Holiday Calls to U.S. Forces
THURMONT, Md. -- President Bush chatted on the phone Wednesday with members of the U.S. armed forces across the world, wishing them a happy holiday and best wishes for the new year.

Bush made the calls from the Camp David presidential retreat where he is spending Christmas with first lady Laura Bush, his twin daughters and other members of the Bush family. He also received a regular national security briefing and spoke with Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman about the first reported case of mad cow disease in the United States.

The president made 10 calls -- two each to members of the Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines and Coast Guard, said Allen Abney, a White House spokesman. Relaxing in an easy chair, Bush talked to servicemen stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Bosnia, sailors aboard naval vessels and guardsmen on their Coast Guard cutters, he said.

The president joked earlier this month about the "incredibly expensive" Christmas gift he bought for his wife

"It's amazing with fake jewelry, you just can't tell the difference between real or not," Bush told ABC News' Diane Sawyer in an interview.

Newsday

5. Really, the sacrifices he makes are inspiring
Giving up sweets, not having enough time for jogging and brush clearing... And now taking time to make 10 phone calls to the men and women dying in his insane war.

14. oh, and don't forget the "hospital visit" to injured troops

Which probably happened only because he happened to wander into the wrong ward while going for his MRI appointment (to examine his knees after all that patriotic running he's been doing).

7. Will we see pictures of Bush in Iraq tomorrow?
There was a story someone posted a link to at DU that Tony Blair is angry at Bush because Blair wanted to visit Iraq for Christmas but Bush wanted to be the only leader in Iraq for Christmas.
