Michigan GOP leader wants Paul barred from future debates

Associated Press - May 16, 2007 7:45 PM ET

The chairman of the Michigan Republican Party said today he will try to bar presidential candidate Ron Paul from future GOP debates.

The Texas congressman made remarks that suggested the September 11th attacks were the fault of US foreign policy at a GOP debate last night. Paul drew attacks from all sides, most forcefully from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, when Paul linked the terror attacks to US bombings.

Michigan party chairman Saul Anuzis says he will circulate a petition among Republican National Committee members to ban Paul from more debates...

What's this guy and the other GOP stooges so afraid of, anyway? I thought they liked "balance" and "other viewpoints" in political discussion.

1. Have him shot, strip him of the rest of his constitutional liberties
Swift boat his sorry ass. Ensure christian conservative justice reigns down on his evil ass. How fucking evil of the man for expressing an opinion. Oh the horrors in the land of the free.

You aren't supposed to notice that. Don't question. Just accept. Then you too can be a good little Kool-Aid sipper.

It is rare that they actually say something, mean it, and do it. Very rare in the GOP world.

It's just like Faux News saying they're "fair and balanced" - nothing could be further from the truth. They should just name their news division what it is: Republican Propaganda. At least that's an honest description.

4. "suggested the September 11th attacks were the fault of US foreign policy "
God forbid anyone should have a differing opinion, especially one that resembles the truth, and be allowed to express it in America.

13. But you have to understand that
the 9/11 hijackers hate us for our freedoms. So much so, that they gave up their families, future and lives to just show how much they hate us for our freedoms. To think that these people would do these same acts because of our participation in the massive killing of Arabs is ludicrous. Our bombing, killing, maiming and dismissing their lives and deaths is no reason for anyone to attack us. I will not accept this excuse, even if the perpetrators tell us that is why they hate us!

:sarcasm:

16. Will we ever return to intelligent discourse or is US Joe forever in a force-fed soundbyte trance?
Willingly hypnotized by repititious newspeak and programmed to repeat it as fact whenever challenged?

Zombies. One and all.

5. Republicans surprise us every day, breaking new records in narrow-mindedness, smallness,
incivility, and deficit of character.

This appears to be another G.O.P star rising!

They are damned lucky Ron Paul even speaks to any of them! Good luck, Mr. Paul.

8. They have no shame
I have the utmost respect for Ron Paul. I believe he is the one and only representative who speaks honestly about the house of cards which is our financial system. His comments on Iraq where some of the most intelligent and honest words spoken in recent times by a politician. He is refreshing. I don't buy his Libertarian beliefs around the scope of government but I find myself agreeing with him to a surprising degree.

23. Not to mention that he's voted against..
raising congress pay, the PATRIOT(tm) act & the Iraq War. Sounds like a true republican to me, unlike most of the faux ones that are running around in D.C.

wasn't just some random thing because they hate us for our freedoms.

very realistic theories were to take hold? They absolutely wouldn't know what to do. "Does Not Compute!"

9. Sweeeet!!!
Pundits have been saying the libertarian vote is up for grabs - ejecting Paul from the debates should ensure that any self-respecting libertarian will not vote Republican in the '08 Presidential election.

18. The MIGOP is one of the sorriest excuses for a political party.
They still control our state senate and are using to block any attempt to fix Michigan's budget problems. They're nasty, horrible people.

22. Ron Paul will be replaced by Chuck Hagel in 6 months.
This is the opening for Hagel to run as a Republican, if there ever was one.

If a once-third-party, libertarian, little-known, kooky Congressman from Houston can get this much attention because of his anti-war views, imagine how easily Hagel will eat up that support.

The recent attention to Ron Paul is about much more than just Ron Paul.
