Rep. Doolittle hits back at feds over home search

GOP Rep. John Doolittle accused the government Sunday of leaking word of an FBI search on his home to coincide with Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' Senate testimony on the fired U.S. attorneys controversy.

Doolittle, who's under scrutiny in the Jack Abramoff influence peddling scandal, made the allegation in an op-ed published in the Auburn Journal in his Northern California district.

FBI agents executed a search warrant on Doolittle's home in Virginia on Friday April 13. News of the search became public on Wednesday April 18, and Gonzales appeared before a Senate committee on April 19.

"I do not believe it was a coincidence that the leak came the day before Attorney General Alberto Gonzales testified before Congress on charges that his office was overly partisan in its firing of eight U.S. Attorneys," wrote Doolittle, "especially considering Gonzales specifically cited his recent prosecution of Republican members of Congress as evidence to the contrary."

A spokesman for the Justice Department did not immediately respond to a voicemail message seeking comment. FBI spokesman Richard Kolko declined comment.

Dear Rep. Doolittle, here's a helpful hint to deal with this problem.

Don't do business with criminals.

3. You couldn't make up this shit. Not even Mel Brooks is that good.
Maybe they were trying to make it look like the Atty Gen and the DOJ were non-partisan. It was a waste of time, we all know better.

But Doolittle made it sooooooooooo easy.

5. How is whining about the stories in the news
qualify as "hitting back"?

Doolittle whines, "look at the timing". The media interprets his sorry ass whine as an honorable thing.

Well Doolittle, if you want your story coming out on a day which has no other GOP corruption stories, you will wait in vain. There are no such days these days.

6. The Auburn Journal might as well be published by the Repugnants
It is a daily local, small circulation, mouthpiece of the Repugs. Doolittle is a coward and so are the publishers of the Auburn Journal. These right wingers have no morals. They take no responsibility for their own actions, only desperately try to find someone or something else to point at as the reason for their problems. They made their bed, now sleep in it! Doolittle is a Mormon. Why don't the righteous faith-based Mormons, and Christians for that matter, in Placer County speak out publicly and condemn Doolittle for the criminal that he is? Doolittle is such a weasel, he hides behind his wife, as if she is the one being attached, when it is clear that the federal investigations into his wife and former top aide (Kevin Ring) and former Abramoff employee, are actually aimed directly at looking for clear evidence to indict John Doolittle.

7. Doolittle says raid was made to aid Gonzales
Source: Sacramento Bee

WASHINGTON-Rep. John Doolittle said in a weekend opinion article that he believes federal law enforcement agents staged a raid on his house last month, then leaked word of it in an effort to bolster Attorney General Alberto Gonzales as he was about to appear before a Senate committee probing the firing of federal prosecutors.

"I do not believe it was a coincidence that the leak came the day before Attorney General Gonzales testified before Congress on charges that his office was overly partisan in its firing of eight U.S. attorneys, especially considering Gonzales specifically cited his recent prosecution of Republican members of Congress as evidence to the contrary," Doolittle wrote in an op-ed article published Saturday by the Auburn Journal.

During the search, he said that only his wife was at home and she was sequestered in the kitchen and kept under surveillance, prohibited from even going to the bathroom without an escort.

Doolittle said their house was systematically searched, with agents "removing every book, turning over every couch cushion and every pot and pan, rummaging through every drawer, file cabinet, cupboard and closet."

Cry me a river Doolittle (and is there a better name out there for a Republic Congressman than "do-little"?)

These are the "tough on crime" actions that your party marches in lock-step to approve. "Waaaaahhhhhhh, my poor little wife couldn't even go to the bathroom"!!!! You're lucky they didn't shoot her with rubber bullets or perform a full body cavity search.

"Tough on crime" my ASS! Repukes are only tough when they aren't the criminals.
