2. Huguito will not be pleased.
His "good Venezuelan friend", his "distinguished compatriot", is in deep doo-doo again.

3. Nice try. Was watching this thread to see who would step forward to slander.

President responded to terrorist's letter

CARACAS -- President Hugo Chavez confirmed Friday that he sent a letter
to the convicted terrorist known as Carlos the Jackal, and said he feels
``human solidarity'' with Venezuelan-born Illich Ramirez Sanchez, who is
serving a life sentence in a Paris prison.

``I was in prison for two years, and I know it is heartening when one receives
a letter,'' Chavez told reporters. He said he wrote to Ramirez two months ago,
shortly after being inaugurated as president, in response to a letter from
Ramirez.

Local media reported that Chavez's letter was friendly. ``This does not imply
political solidarity. It is simply human solidarity. Every human being deserves
respect,'' Chavez said.

Perhaps you'll be conscientious enough to post your evidence of their literal friendship. Any photos of them strolling hand in hand, or enjoying a picnic by a river?

Anything beyond his writing his letter to the guy IN ANSWER to one sent to him, would be magical, like the finest fairy dust.

Glad you were on duty today. You're the guy!

4. Reminded of the wildly intelligent Rev. Pat Robertson, and his erudite remarks
on the same subject:
"The truth is, this man is setting up a Marxist-type dictatorship in Venezuela, he's trying to spread Marxism throughout South America, he's negotiating with the Iranians to get nuclear material and he also sent $US1.2 million in cash to Osama bin Laden right after 9/11," Mr Robertson said.

"I apologised and I said I will be praying for him, but one day we will be staring nuclear weapons and it won't be (Hurricane) Katrina facing New Orleans, it's going to be a Venezuelan nuke," Mr Robertson said.

"So my suggestion was, isn't it a lot cheaper sometimes to deal with these problems before you have to have a big war," he added.

Asked how he had obtained information on Chavez giving money to bin Laden, Robertson said: "Sources that came to me. That's what I was told."

"And I know he sent a warm congratulatory letter to Carlos the Jackal, he's a friend of Muammar Gaddafi," he said. "He's made common cause with these people that are considered terrorists."
