Berlusconi cleared in bribery case

MILAN, Italy (Reuters) -- A Milan appeals court acquitted Italy's richest man, former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, in a corruption case on Friday, upholding an earlier acquittal in one of several cases he is facing.

"The crime does not exist and he did not commit the crime," the presiding judge said.

In March, prosecutor Piero De Petris had asked for a five-year jail sentence for the media magnate, accused of bribing judges.

"It's a great result," said Nicolo Ghedini, Berlusconi's lawyer. "After 11 years of effort Berlusconi has been recognized as completely innocent of all charges."

Berlusconi still has one more charge to be resolved -- paying a kickback to lawyer David Mills. It would be nice to see one of Bu**sh**'s like-minded playmates go to the slammer, and maybe even start a trend.
