Pentagon: Al-Qaida operative captured
Source: AP

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon said Friday it has custody of one of al-Qaida's most senior and most experienced operatives, an Iraqi who was attempting to return to his native country when he was captured.

Bryan Whitman, a Pentagon spokesman, said the captive is Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi. He was received by the Pentagon from the CIA, Whitman said, but the spokesman would not say where or when al-Iraqi was captured or by whom.

The Pentagon took custody of him at Guantanamo Bay this week, Whitman said.

2. Golly gee whiz
I don't think I would like to be number two or three in the Al-Queada chain, don't they capture them about every two or three weeks. Never one of the rank and file, always the number two or three. BUT they never get anywhere near number one...OSAMA BIN LADEN.

6. Cool! "most senior operatives" is replacing "top aid" or "senior leader" for Al Quaeda captures!
Damn, those boys and girls in the Pentagons Public Affairs/PsyOps Branches are constantly keeping us informed of the latest high-level "terrorist" arrests. :eyes:

Dumb-a**es must live in their own protective bubble as they profoundly UNDERESTIMATE the intelligence of the American People ... especially for these un-creative attempts at spreading glorious Bush-Speak *Surge Working* Propaganda. :P

11. No, they were first "selected" and then they tweaked the vote in Ohio.

To be honest with you, propaganda did work to divide the populace, but it was *deliberate cheating* that pushed The Bush Administration into The Executive Branch, not fair elections.

However, we'll never know for sure.

Point taken, propaganda is dangerous, but AIRING THE TRUTH will continue to "set us free" ... or at least provide a true balance and counter to the elites.

Don't forget, there's far more of us (average working-stiff Americans) than them (Warmongering shills for the Military Industrial Complex and their Media M$M Cheerleaders). ;)

15. I agree voters were disenfranchised, but apart from that, the independent polls
indicated that the election would be close, and there is NO EXCUSE for the polls to have been that close, epecially in 2004.

I hope you are right about "airing the truth", but even looking at Bill Moyer's special on PBS, it went up against american idol. I wonder who got better ratings

I don't disagree with anything you have said, and in fact 2006 did show that the people seem to be getting smarter, in spite of the MSM spewing all the propaganda and lies

22. There was no way the Dems should have lost in 2000 or 2004
That the elections were as close as they were both years shows that the problem wasn't so much any hanky-panky at the polls as it was the lifeless and flawed candidates/campaigns that the Dems chose to run.

25. Perhaps, but my point was that the MSM presented a much more distorted view of the Dems
than they did the repugs

I don't know if you caught Bill Moyer's special on the medias complicity leading up to the Iraq war, but it is very eye openning

There was one member of the media establishment who said something to the effect that it wasn't there job to question the administration or the reason to go into Iraq, but the opposition party

We are definitely living in dangerous times, especially from our own government

30. MSM's double-standard is going to end, repub reporters and editors need to loose their jobs
Lot's of "truth telling" reporters have been fired/ruined since the days of ronald Mc Ray-gun the clown. Turn about is required. Here's a great place to compile a list from:

http://www.dailyhowler.com/
and I think the archives are still up of mediawhoresonline

failing a take-over of the corporate media the only other plan is boycott and marginalize the most obviously partisan.

12. More proof...
Wow, The Bush military has actually captured a real al-Qaida soldier.. Any al-Qaidi captured has to be within the top 3. We haven't heard yet about the al-Qaida grunt yet to be captured, only poor Iraqi citizens who are "suspected" to be al-Qaida's supporters. BTW, how does the Bush administration know the structure of al-Qaida. Do they have a chart board that, with pictures of these guys, shows their place in that organization (like FBI Mafia organizational charts)? I haven't seen that published yet. Maybe we should ask for that... then we will know who the bad guys are and, wow, the Iraqi's will know as well...

27. The able danger chart identified Atta before 911
Edited on Sat Apr-28-07 05:48 AM by CGowen
http://summeroftruth.org/atta2.html

Last night here on this broadcast former 9/11 commissioner Tim Roemer said Able Danger hearings should be allowed to go forward, but he continued to defend the 9/11 Commission for not including any mention of Able Danger in its final report, despite claims by Able Danger officials they had identified Mohammed Atta and other 9/11 terrorists more than a year before the attacks.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0511/29/ldt.01.html (Video is gone from youtube)

http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/context.jsp?item=a052302heritagespeech#a052302heritagespeech

A blurry image of the chart Rep. Curt Weldon presented to the Heritage Foundation in 2002. During a speech before the Heritage Foundation, Rep. Curt Weldon (R) unfurls a chart, which, his comments suggest, was produced by Able Danger. He says it is “the unclassified chart that was done by the Special Forces Command briefing center one year before 9/11. It is the complete architecture of al-Qaeda and pan-Islamic extremism. It gives all the linkages.” However, he does not mention Mohamed Atta or any other 9/11 hijackers during the speech. Video footage of the speech shows the chart, but picture quality is too poor to determine whether Atta is on it. Weldon later claims to have given up his only copy of the chart showing Atta’s face in late 2001 (see September 25, 2001). In September 2005, Weldon will refer to the chart shown in this 2002 speech and suggest it may not have been the same chart that contained Atta’s face. He also says he can’t find the chart used in the speech anymore.

21. Maybe he CLAIMS to be a senior operative....
Like that fellow a couple of years back -- he was depicted as some kind of "uber-terrorist" but his big plan was to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge with a firecracker. Or the guy who claimed that he had masterminded everything from the Hindenburg disaster to 911 to Global Warming. We get these clowns who claim to be Radical Islamic Dr. Evils. It's ridiculous, but it works for Faux News! And of course, they're dutifully trotted out so the right-wing noise machine can claim some ongoing victory in our nation's fatuous "War on Terror."

26. Check Out...
... TPMMuckraker. Sounds like this guy has been on ice at Gitmo for months, just waiting for a good time to be "captured". The guess is this "capture" will take much of the spotlight off of George Tenet's round of all the news shows over the weekend to promote his book. Rove is one slick dick.

for trial. How many more are at secret sites still being pumped for

7/7 ‘mastermind’ is seized in Iraq

The al-Qaeda leader who is thought to have devised the plan for the July 7 suicide bombings in London and an array of terrorist plots against Britain has been captured by the Americans.

Abd al-Hadi al-Iraqi, a former major in Saddam Hussein’s army, was apprehended as he tried to enter Iraq from Iran and was transferred this week to the “high-value detainee programme” at Guantanamo Bay.

Abd al-Hadi was taken into CIA custody last year, it emerged from US intelligence sources yesterday, in a move which suggests that he was interrogated for months in a “ghost prison” before being transferred to the internment camp in Cuba.

Abd al-Hadi, 45, was regarded as one of al-Qaeda’s most experienced, most intelligent and most ruthless commanders. Senior counter-terrorism sources told The Times that he was the man who, in 2003, identified Britain as the key battleground for exporting al-Qaeda’s holy war to Europe.
