Wolfowitz Complains Of Shabby Treatment: Report
Source: AFP

World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz has accused the development lender's board of treating him "shabbily and unfairly" as he battles to retain his job.

The New York Times divulged a letter Thursday sent by the embattled Wolfowitz to the head of a World Bank probe Wednesday in which the former Pentagon number two appealed for more time to fend off charges of favoritism and cronyism.

Wolfowitz asked to appear before the board next week in the interests of "fairness to me" and "good governance," according to the Times, which relayed a description of the letter from people who had seen it.

It said many of the bank's 24 directors had been "taken aback by the tough tone of the letter," which could not be immediately confirmed by AFP.

1. Oh, hell. I thought he was talking about abuse from his girlfriend.
This shit is boring. I want kinky sex talk. Big headlines about bite marks, whips, and chains.

26. He's not getting what he deserves yet.
If he were, all the pictures of him would show bars, and he'd be in orange garb.

29. Guantánamo is not (sovereign) Cuba.
thanks to an unjust, unfair, cooerced treaty between cronies at the time.

The entire Guantánamo bay area should be returned, now if not sooner, to Cuba. Thanks.

8. They never expect anyone will dare to challenge them, considering they control
almost everything by now. Apparently this would be one of those "you can fool all of the people some of the time" situations, considering how frightened everyone should be of the fact they've got complete control of all the weapons and can reduce almost any country to a pile of dust.

Also from the article:
A board committee is also investigating his hiring of former White House aides, also on generous pay deals, to work in his inner circle after he took over the World Bank in June 2005.

9. All executive contracts will need to be rewritten
To cover this kind of intransigence.

Formerly, there was an honor system. If you were disgraced, you resigned. Now you hang on till you are bribed to leave. There needs to be a better way.

16. These Neocons have friggin' chuztpah! >>>
... more from the NY Times article:

Meanwhile, the bank's vice presidents have rebuffed his request for them to set up an ad hoc committee to advise him on improving his management style. The vice presidents did not want to be co-opted into helping his campaign to stay in office, bank officials said.

As if that guy, given his background, his behavior, his attitude, would have any interest (or even ability) to change his management style. What a putz.

Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 10:21 PM by yellowcanine
That's pretty shabby, I agree. But so is licking your comb and running it through your hair. And so is living with your girlfriend without bothering to get a divorce from your wife for 10 years. And so is giving said girlfriend a big raise with money given by governments to help poor people around the world.
