Senators Press for Answers on GSA Chief
By Paul Kiel - April 23, 2007, 1:23 PM

Move over, Al Gonzales, there's a new campaign for the resignation of a Bush appointee.

General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan shocked the world last month when she gave a performance at a House hearing that was enough to make even Gonzales cringe.

In January, Karl Rove's deputy, Scott Jennings, arrived at the GSA to give a briefing on Republican political prospects. After the presentation, Doan reportedly asked aloud what the GSA could do with its considerable taxpayer-funded assets "to help our candidates." When asked about the briefing at the hearing, Doan pleaded a fuzzy memory.

Ever since the briefing was revealed, Democrats have been vainly trying to get answers from the White House about this and other presentations. So today, 25 senators wrote the White House, demanding answers. You can read the letter here. "The Executive Branch is not an extension of the Republican National Committee," it reads, "nor of any political party. Those who treat it as such must be held accountable."

Here's a copy of the letter: http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/docs/Bolten-letter/?resultpage=1&

So now we have a horse race between Gonzalez, Wolfowitz, Doan, Renzi and Doolittle. Who will win the great resignation race of 2007? Any dark horses that will come up from the rear to take the prize? Maybe Pete Domenici or Heather Wilson?

3. I think it's Rick Renzi. His family's business was raided by the FBI
in relation to the Abramoff scandal.

4. One thing you can say about bush's appointees: They have the most selective/defective memories of
anyone involved in government. It's like they're all drinking the same bad water.

16. They don't have selective memories
They just believe they don't have to answer any question if it is put to them by a Democrat.

As Karl Rove said, he doesn't work for us he works for the American people. GOPers don't include non-GOPers in their definition of Americans.

The one who had staff meetings with bible verses, and the rule that you had to dress virtuously rather than worldly?

17. Amen Brothers and Sisters!

What will be this hack's line of amnesia? Maybe Jesus made her forget,
or she has sinned but everything is all better now because of her admission.

There just aren't enough jail cells in the US for all the BushCo criminals.

15. Rachel Paulose
http://wonkette.com/politics/justice-department/new-us-attorney-is-a-bible+spewing-teenager-250324.php

---snip---

Four of her top staff voluntarily demoted themselves Thursday, fed up with Paulose, who, after just months on the job, has earned a reputation for quoting Bible verses and dressing down underlings.

Deputy U.S. Attorney John Marty is just one of the people dropping themselves in rank to simply a U.S. Attorney position. Also making the move are the heads of Paulose’s criminal and civil divisions and the top administrative officer. The move is intended to send a message to Washington - that 33-year-old Paulose is in over her head.

10. you forgot Wolfowitz.....
I hope he's first, just because I hate him with a "purple" passion. I haven't decided yet if I want Gonzo to resign, somehow once they resign, they're never heard from again. I want him to remain the focal point for a broken, politically poisoned Justice Dept. Also, I'd like to add Heather Wilson & Pete Domenici to the horserace.

Republicans reemerge from the mud and slime after twenty years. Fred Fielding, Dick Cheney, Robert Gates, etc., etc., all Nixon/Bush men who have lurched once more into the light to work their evil wills. That's why I'm all for impeachment of Gonzales and that ilk. It's not enough for them to leave the scene...they must be so disgraced that if (God Forbid) we ever have another Republican administration, the 'lost Bushies' can never, ever come back.

(Sorry 'bout the double posts...my computer hiccupped...)

21. We really need to rewrite some laws here.
Formerly, the disgraced would resign because, well, they were disgraced. Since they figured out that disgrace is no biggie on their cocktail circuit, they don't do that anymore. So something else has to be in place.

25. Great!
Lurita Doan is my favorite corrupt Bush crony. Her performance at that hearing was indefensible - there should be 100 senators calling for her resignation.

28. I don't care who wins the "resignation" race
All I want to see is the ring-winged criminals all out of office, and every single one of them out of influence as well. And we don't have enough time or money to speed things up. On the other hand, if we could get fucking impeachment proceedings started, my joy and enthusiasm might return anew.

30. The most astounding thought of all is how they could even THINK of doing this?
Has the entire WORLD gone corrupt with just a few exceptions? How come GORE could keep his nose clean along with a slew of others, yet the officials of this administration feel it is MORAL and RIGHT to circumvent the law, lie, cheat and steal?

Guess I'm just getting old.
