Bush ratings show little gain from Saddam capture
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1521&e=16&u=/afp/us_saddam_bush_poll

Mon Dec 22,11:02 AM ET

NEW YORK (AFP) - The capture of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) had a minimal effect on President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s approval ratings, which are hovering at their lowest levels since he took office in January, 2001, according to a poll.

The Harris Poll, conducted before and after the ousted Iraqi leader's capture on December 13, found only a slight improvement in the president's ratings, up from 48 percent positive, 51 percent negative, to 50 percent positive, 49 percent negative.

They were the worst monthly ratings Harris has reported for the president since the September 11 terrorist attacks of two years ago, and the highest negative ratings since he took office.

The big ratings winners from Saddam's capture were some of the senior members of Bush's cabinet.

Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's positive rating climbed from 47 percent to 57 percent, and Attorney General John Ashcroft (news - web sites)'s approval was up from 41 percent to 51 percent.

This is just in response to Bush's PR post-Saddam-capture polling blitz.

7. Batting a thousand????......You certainly mean less than 100.
1000 would be a homerun at every time at the plate.
Quite frankly it is doing the opposite.

21. My sometimes faulty memory says you only need a hit
I could be wrong, but IIRC, it doesn't matter if it's a single, double, triple or home run - a hit each time at the plate gets you a 1000 batting record.... :)

10. LOL!!!....Yes it is amazing. At the fork in the road and being tested.
These totally subjective and ficticious "POLL companies"
have to now choose what road to walk down.
They can choose Bush or chose the morally just.
It is the DARK vs. the LIGHT.

And yes they can choose to do right.

12. I don't get it. I really don't get it at all. This guy is the business
owners son who lords it over everyone at work and doesn't realize that whenever he is out of earshot people are muttering what an asshole under their breath. I don't understand how anyone who observes him for over a few minutes could
not see what a jerk he is.

17. I Think That Was 59% on Iraq, JC
I was watching this morning too. I think it 59:40 on handling of Iraq. But, the economy was 51:49. That's within the margin of error, so i would think this is still bad news. Remember in 1999, Clinton's "economy" numbers were over 90%.

13. Once again the media
bias is showing. Any mention of this poll on the "news"? I know they were all picking and choosing the numbers from some other polls singing about the "skyrocketing approval of our brave and glorious leader".

15. As Bush said
F. saddam we're taking him out. He is rotting and failing in a jail cell as we speak.
One can only hope that half of the citizens can see through the lies. I don't see where Rummy or Ashcroft should get any bounce. They should be on there way out.
The media has lost it:
Roaring economy
Winning 2 wars
Skyrocketing Market
Soaring Poll numbers
When will someone in the media attempt to speak the truth?
