Cheney hasn't called Libby since trial

Sun Apr 15, 1:44 PM ET

WASHINGTON - In the nearly six weeks since his close friend and former chief of staff was convicted of lying and obstructing an investigation, Vice President
Dick Cheney has not once spoken to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

Why?

"Well, there hasn't been occasion to do so," Cheney said in an interview broadcast Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation."

Libby is the highest-ranking White House official convicted in a government scandal since the
Iran-Contra affair two decades ago. He was found guilty last month of perjury and obstruction in the investigation into the 2003 leak of
CIA operative
Valerie Plame's identity.

The episode undercut the Bush administration's credibility, one of a string of a bad-news stories that have hurt the president's standing.

2. I heard Bob Schieffer ask him this - pretty amazing!
Edited on Sun Apr-15-07 08:00 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
As I recall, he said he hadn't had "occasion to" give him a call.

Subtext tells me that they are potential adversaries and that both their attorneys have probably advised against contact.

Sing, Scooter, Sing!!

...and the possible deals get thinner and thinner as the date draws nearer. We'll see how thick thieves are very soon.

13. Don't worry about Scooter.. he knows the drill
there's a big ole pile of cash waiting for him.. and he'll appeal & stall until junior's term winds down, and then will get a full pardon.. he'll mosey off to collect the loot and live happily ever after.
