75,000 Voter Registration Cards Found in Trash Bin in Atlanta
Source: First Coast News

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Secretary of State's office has begun an investigation into who threw more than 75,000 Fulton County voter registration cards into a trash bin.

The cards contained a voter's full name, address and Social Security number. The office says a random sampling showed many of the cards were for active voters.

In a statement, Secretary of State Karen Handel (R) said the finding "represents a significant and serious breach of the personal information of Fulton County voters and an outrageous violation of the trust and integrity of Fulton County's elections."

After getting a call from a resident, officials with Handel's office found more than 30 boxes of voter registration application cards, precinct cards and other documents Monday in a construction trash bin at Atlanta Technical College in southwest Atlanta.

But what does it matter anyway, we are all just a bunch of stupid, Bush loving, Red-necks and Uncle Tom's who lost our right to have our votes counted years ago (2002), when our damn Democrat SoS bought all those wonderful, High-tech, Paperless, impossible to actually recount, Diebold Accu-Vote TS machines.

Carry on, nothing to see here. Don't you all waste another second thinking about little old us here in Georgia.

because the information has been entered into a database.

i don't see this as any type of voter suppression- more likely somebody whose legitimate job it was to dispose of the cards didn't do it correctly.

27. not really. it's a serious breach of protocol to allow personal info to
not get shredded IMO

I have seen in the articles that it contains current voter info. this leads me to believe the records were old ones

often there are multiple reg cards for different reasons (moved, changed party affiliation, got married ect) and when a new card is on file, the old cards get (ideally) shredded. also included in purged files would be deceased voters or voters who have moved out of the district

The Fulton county governmental headquarters and board of elections are not near this area.

I'm from Georgia and I beleive that this is part of the GOP election fraud strategy.
If you lived here, you'd understand what Ruby and I are talking about when we discuss GOP election fraud in Georgia.

36. That was sorta my thought. Was that a drop off site for someone
interested in identity theft? The bottom line is these cards should have been shredded if they were outdated. Does the IRS dump our old files in the dumster now days? What is the cost of shredding? Who was too lazy to shred and just dumped?

Yup, the GOP likes less government and less rules. Who the hell is watching the store now days?

14. Handel is our new Republic SoS. GA has been embroiled in voting problems
including being the first in the nation 100% Diebold voting system (thanks :sarcasm: to our previous Democratic Sos, Cathy Cox for helping to elect Saxby Chambliss and Sonny Perdue by allowing election fraud :grr:), the misguided Republic backed voter ID law (overturned by the courts but still trying to stage a comeback in the GOP controlled state legislature) and having the state GOP allege "voter fraud" when the problem is GOP election fraud.

26. I feel your pain - I'm a native Georgian living in Mississippi
when I moved away in 1998, I was so PROUD to be from Georgia, the most enlightened, progressive state in the south, and I thought it would always be so. I have watched in horror as subsequent events have developed, and my beloved Georgia has flushed itself down the toilet. Even Z*** Miller has gone bat-shit crazy. I had planned to move back some day, maybe at retirement, but now probably not. Georgia seems determined to out-Mississippi Mississippi, while my current state of residence is actually trying to improve itself. Go figure. :hi:

40. Every Dem in Georgia should feel the same but
Edited on Fri Apr-13-07 07:34 PM by Cookie wookie
Cox was really good at getting about half the Democrats to stay loyal to her camp -- they are even sticking to her now.

Maybe they will change their allegiance if the Attorney General's Office finds any malfeasance in the investigation of the certification practices of Cox, Rogers, Brit Williams & Diebold for the 2006 election. It's going on right now. If any of the election laws are broken that are cited, EACH incidence is a misdemeanor that carry fines or time.... http://www.gaforverifiedvoting.org/about.htm

As far as Fulton being heavily Dem, the numbers really eroded in 2006, but also compare what Cox got in 02 with Buckner in 06.

Read it and weep!

The turnout for Fulton 2006 was supposedly only 46.52%.

Fulton 2006: Perdue 43.72%, Taylor's 51.43%; Cagle 37.64%, Martin's 58.51%; Buckner 51.49%, Handel 44.83%.

Fulton 2004: Bush 39.90%, Kerry 59.23%; Isakson 41.01%, Majette 55.35%

Fulton 2002: Cleland 58.39%, Chambliss 40.34%; Barnes 62.47%; Perdue 34.96%; Cathy Cox 67.55%, Bailey 28.10%

2002 ...... Diebold comes to town

Fulton 2000: Gore 152,039 (57.8%), Bush 104,870 (39.8%), Nader 1,264 (.5%); Miller--yes that's Zell before he became a moran (59.8%), Mattingly (34.6%)

Fulton 1996: Cleland 57.6%, Millner 38.4%

Fulton 1992: Clinton 58.9%, Dole 36.9%

* I couldn't easily find the earlier data, so put what I could find quickly. Would like to know if someone has full county data for 1992-2000 or any of the election years within that range (pm me!)

as it's not working (get a dead link to an adobe website!). However, on the EAC website it says:

"Georgia: A full social security number is requested; it is no longer required," which indicates that it was required but the page isn't clear about when it stopped being required.
