Grand jury probe of sex abuse claims at TYC jail set to resume

EL PASO, Texas — A Ward County grand jury investigating allegations of rampant sexual abuse at a West Texas juvenile prison is set to resume its work Tuesday in Monahans.

In its first meeting on the case last month, the grand jury did not take any testimony, instead issuing a series of subpoenas.

The case focuses on two-year-old allegations of sexual abuse of inmates at the hands of two former top administrators at the Texas Youth Commission's West Texas State School in Pyote.

The allegations were outlined in a lengthy and graphic Texas Ranger report drafted in early 2005 that was handed over to Ward County District Attorney Randall W. Reynolds in March of that year.
