Suicide bomb threat rings out in Pakistani capital
Source: Reuters

ISLAMABAD, April 6 (Reuters) - The chief cleric of a radical mosque in Pakistan's capital trumpeted plans on Friday to set up Islamic courts and exhorted followers to become suicide bombers if their Taliban-style movement was forcibly suppressed.

"Our youths will shake their palaces with their suicide attacks," Maulana Abdul Aziz warned the government in a fiery sermon delivered to thousands of followers at Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, in central Islamabad.

Followers of the radical clerics in Lal Masjid have become increasingly audacious in recent months, raising fears that for all President Pervez Musharraf's talk of "enlightened moderation" he cannot stop a trend toward the Talibanisation of Pakistan.

The authorities are clearly concerned about the fall-out from any confrontation at Lal Masjid, well known for its anti-Musharraf and anti-American stand.

1. Our good ally Pakistan just may be the center of a lot of future problems
for the West. Musharraf is having to send out troops to guard against attacks from radicals, now it's suicide bombers. And we've sent a lot of military technology to Pakistan. If it flips, it will not be pretty.

2. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, not Iran, are the places to watch.
Volcanoes getting ready for an eruption. Iran already had their eruption 28 years ago.

3. I thoroughly agree. That's the reason behind the Saudi King's
little rant about the 'occupation' of Iraq this week (I believe). He's gotta be on some pretty thin ice with the whackjobs in the Maddrassas, and obviously since Saudi Arabia is mostly Sunni they've gotta be pretty indignant about our backing a Shi'ite cabal of criminals and clowns in Iraq. Those are two mighty shakey governments and I don't think they'll last long.

4. A lot of The King's oil sits in the new Shi'ia Crescent being formed by Bushite policy.
It's not just that the Neoclowns are clumsy fools, they have brought into being all the things they most wanted to prevent. The historians are going to have a rich feast on these fools.

5. Well, that's what they get for letting their citizens come over here
and blow up buildings....

:sarcasm:

Yep, I believe that never before (and probably never again) will any plan go so wrong as Operation Shock and Awe.
