Tillmans Want Congressional Probe of Coverup
Source: Associated Press

SAN JOSE, Mar. 26, 2007 - Pat Tillman's family firmly rejected the Defense Department's findings Monday in the former NFL star's friendly-fire death, calling for congressional investigations into what they see as broad malfeasance and coverup.

"The truth is not what we received today," Tillman's parents and other family members said in a prepared statement.

Although the military has conducted five investigations, the Tillmans said all had failed to uncover the truth. "Now we ask the assistance of Congress and the press," they said.

The Tillmans spoke out a few hours after receiving a briefing from special agents and others involved in the probes completed recently. Among the family members present at the briefing here was Kevin Tillman, Pat's brother, who was several minutes behind his brother in a convoy when the former defensive back was killed in 2004. Kevin Tillman, an Army Ranger like his brother, did not witness the shooting.

3. Yep. the "report" concentrated solely on the "process",
the "event" and NOT on the REASON for the white-wash.. THAT's the real crime here..

The numbers were lagging back then, and what better to beef up recruitment, than a HERO story?

4. His brother Kevin, who served with Pat wrote this piece: SAD and scathing of the thugs

After Pat’s Birthday

<snip>

Somehow we were sent to invade a nation because it was a direct threat to the American people, or to the world, or harbored terrorists, or was involved in the September 11 attacks, or received weapons-grade uranium from Niger, or had mobile weapons labs, or WMD, or had a need to be liberated, or we needed to establish a democracy, or stop an insurgency, or stop a civil war we created that can’t be called a civil war even though it is. Something like that.

<snip>

Somehow our elected leaders were subverting international law and humanity by setting up secret prisons around the world, secretly kidnapping people, secretly holding them indefinitely, secretly not charging them with anything, secretly torturing them. Somehow that overt policy of torture became the fault of a few “bad apples” in the military.

Somehow back at home, support for the soldiers meant having a five-year-old kindergartener scribble a picture with crayons and send it overseas, or slapping stickers on cars, or lobbying Congress for an extra pad in a helmet. It’s interesting that a soldier on his third or fourth tour should care about a drawing from a five-year-old; or a faded sticker on a car as his friends die around him; or an extra pad in a helmet, as if it will protect him when an IED throws his vehicle 50 feet into the air as his body comes apart and his skin melts to the seat.

<snip>

Pat Tillman's mother rejects latest explanation of probe of son's death
SAN JOSE, Calif. (CNN) -- The mother of Cpl. Pat Tillman, the former NFL player killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan in April 2004, rejected Tuesday the latest explanation from the U.S. military about the circumstances surrounding her son's death.

"It became very obvious, early on, that they were lying to us," Mary Tillman said on ESPN Radio's Dan Patrick Show. "They were only telling one side of the story. They weren't telling the other side."

The military reported Monday that nine military officers, including four generals, will face "corrective action" for making critical mistakes in the aftermath of the Army Ranger's death.
