University of Florida Senate Denies Degree to Jeb Bush

MIAMI, March 23 — Pondering his options after eight years in office, former Gov. Jeb Bush can cross one off the list, honorary degree recipient at the University of Florida, the largest university in the state.

The Faculty Senate there rejected a proposal on Thursday to award Mr. Bush an honorary degree this spring. Some members openly criticized his policies.

It is the first time in memory that the group has rejected a nominee put forth by its honorary degrees committee, said J. Bernard Machen, the university president.

The Senate voted, 38 to 28, against the proposal, which came from a former president of the university and was supported by two university trustees appointed by Mr. Bush.

Until his brother is shackled and taken to jail with a life sentence, until Jeb himself dreams of nothing but the haunting face of Teri Schiavo until it drives him as mad as a hatter, until Babs' "beautiful mind" is shown for the putrefied and nauseating cesspool that it really is, til his brother Neil is in a Chinese jail or hanged for criminal attacks and until his father is judged as the second to last worst president in our country, the Bushes will never be given enough pain and suffering to suit me.

However, being humiliated in his own state by the biggest university is a start, however a meager one.

16. WTF would any person get an honorary degree?

I could see Carl Sagan, Hawkings or other deserving souls but a politician or other
"normal" person makes no sense to me no matter what the degree is for. You earn it or you don't.
