New document raises questions about fund raising by Texans for a Republican Majority

Texans for a Republican Majority has always offered a simple defense to allegations that it illegally used corporate money to help elect state legislators last year: No corporate dollars directly benefited candidates.

However, an Austin fund-raiser hired by the political action committee said that wasn't always so. Consultant Susan Lilly, whom the committee paid with corporate money, confirmed this week that she solicited, collected and distributed campaign donations in the name of individual campaigns for Republican candidates.

One-page documents that the committee gave to would-be donors at several fund-raising events, including ones headlined by U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, said: "Contributions should be made to TRMPAC or directly to `(name of candidate) for State Legislature' and mailed to: 1005 Congress, Suite 310, Austin, Texas 78701." The address is that of Lilly & Co.

5. Hmmmm. Ties to Tom De Lay?
I'm trying to remember if Texans for A Republican Majority has close ties to Tom De Lay as well as having at least one of its consiglierii involved in the unsavory Texas congressional redistricting putsch.

One of the few flickering rays of light in these darkening times is the fact that this crop of GOPsters is so arrogant that they think that staying within the letter of the law is only something the small and powerless have to do. If we US citizen/voters have honest Democratic prosecutors in the right places, we can begin cutting some of these Republican villains down to size with one successful criminal prosecution after another.

6. It should be huge, but remember this is Texas..
Tom DeLay owns the Republican Legislature and the Governor here. They have no shame. This is exactly how they got control of the state legislature, by cheating. That should come as no surprise. TRMPAC, TAB and a host of other front scam organizations run by DeLay are at the heart of everything that is politically evil in this state and that includes the current redistricting fight.

Let us keep our hopes up that the good in men will triumph over the evil that is Tom DeLay. Tom's minions are as evil as the orcs of Sauron.

If DeLay could be toppled, that would be HUGE!!!!! Two pins I would very much like to see pulled out of this machine are Tom DeLay and Karl Rove.
