Poll: 58 percent want U.S. troops out of Iraq by 2008
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Nearly six in ten Americans want to see U.S. troops leave Iraq either immediately or within a year, and more would rather have Congress running U.S. policy in the conflict than President Bush, according to a CNN poll out Tuesday.

Though support for Bush's decision to dispatch additional troops to Iraq grew to 37 percent -- up from 32 percent in a mid-January poll -- a slim majority of 52 percent say Congress should block funding for the new deployment.

The CNN poll was conducted Friday through Sunday by Opinion Research Corp. Pollsters interviewed 1,027 adults for the survey, which had a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Bush announced in January that he was deploying another 21,500 U.S. troops to Iraq to crack down on the country's sectarian warfare and the Sunni Arab insurgency in the country's west. The White House approved the deployment of another 4,400 support troops over the weekend, largely to handle an expected increase in the number of Iraqi prisoners.

1. Face it no one is going to bring troops home. Face it they are
getting ready to sign the oil contracts for our corp. where we take the big share and we will need the army there to keep these corp in business. Plus Chaney's cotp. has moved into the Middle East big time and the army will need to save them as all hell will brake out with our take over of even more of the rule of these Middle East countries. If I can see this sitting in a small town in Maine reading newspapers I am sure most of the people in the Middle East can see it also and have for a long time. No one wants to say it but war for a few has paid big profits for those same few. We of course will keep driving and building 3000 st. ft. homes to heat.

Bush knows what Americans REALLY want, whether they know it or not. That's why he's THE DECIDER! Do Americans truly think they live in a Democracy? How naive. Corporations control this country, more precisely the people that control those Corporations control this country.
Democracy!

4. This is heartening, though--to some extent...
it means that the whole "cut-and-run", "they'll follow us home", "fight them there or fight them here", "undermining the troops/comforting the enemy" ball of arguments just hasn't landed with the majority of Americans. People are thinking for themselves.
