(Harry) Reid to Bush: No Pardon for Libby

Reid to Bush: No Pardon for Libby

ABC News' Paul Fidalgo Reports: Moments after the guilty verdict handed to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was made public Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called on President Bush to promise not to let Libby off the hook with a presidential pardon.

"I welcome the jury's verdict. It's about time someone in the Bush Administration has been held accountable for the campaign to manipulate intelligence and discredit war critics," said Reid in a press statement. "Lewis Libby has been convicted of perjury, but his trial revealed deeper truths about Vice President Cheney’s role in this sordid affair. Now President Bush must pledge not to pardon Libby for his criminal conduct."

5. I agree
Even if Bush pays no attention, and he won't, at least it's out there.

2. Yea right, like the bushes are going to listen to him.
If he wants something out of crazy king george the only way to get it is to impeach our imperial president.

3. Props to Sen. Reid
This message needs to be pre-emptive and constant. If Bush ever decides to pardon him, it most certainly cannot be done under cover of night.

8. At least the popular media can't feign surprise
When Bush follows his old family tradition of dead-of-night pardons for administration felons, at least the major media can't be "surprised" that it happened. Again.

9. He won't pardon Libby
before the 2008 election. Appeals could keep him out of prison until then.

12. Libby could say "Give me a pardon, or I'll sing."
I'm sure he knows a LOT of dirt.

26. he will definitely pardon libby before he leaves office...
Bush isn't so stupid as to pardon Libby before the election. He will do it the last day he is in office.

Libby is looking at 25 years, he would rollover on Bush and Cheney in a heartbeat if he didn't think a pardon was guaranteed.

He'll get his pardon, but the whole world knows the reason that Cheney tried to discredit Joe Wilson. This whole deal has removed any shadow of a doubt as to whether or not Cheney, Bush and Rove fabricated the justification to invade Iraq. The whole world knows that these men are liars and cold blooded killers. Their day will come.

15. Well, I'm still pissed at him for his part in helping to make Fox "News"
appear "credible" with his statement about the Nevada "debate" that Fox "News" is going to manage.

19. No chance of NOT pardoning him.
Bush has to keep Libby's mouth zipped.

A pardon will be coming as soon as Libby is about to be carted off to prison.

Libby has NOTHING to worry about.
