Ark. gov. 'frustrated' with tornado response (By Bush Admin)
http://www.usatoday.com/weather/storms/2007-03-05-arkansas-tornado-disaster_N.htm

Gov. Mike Beebe said Monday he was frustrated with the federal government for not declaring a disaster in tornado-struck southern Arkansas.

Beebe told reporters he did not understand why a federal declaration had not been made for Dumas, where a tornado wiped out dozens of homes and businesses last month.

"We're frustrated, yes," Beebe said, when asked about comments made by U.S. Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., who was critical of the federal response.

"We're frustrated with the federal government not authorizing federal disaster assistance on the federal level for Dumas. We don't understand yet why."

Over the weekend, Ross criticized President Bush and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for what he called a slow response to the Arkansas tornadoes.

Sorry gov, you're a Dem and your name isn't Huckabee, what do you expect? :sarcasm:

same thing happened in Wisconsin 1 1/2 years ago and FEMA simply refused to help and denied the appeal -- (help) "not necessary or appropriate", Dem governor as well.

9. Hey Congress! Is this worth investigating?
Or like no Impeachment and seemingly little to no reaction to massive intrusive wiretaps (to include high officials), are you going to SUBMIT to the will of The Unitary Executive. :grr:

16. But W. cried and everything!
Golly, a Democratic governor dissatisfied with the federal government's disaster response, even after George W. solemnly pledged to do everything he could to set things to right. Well, I'm sure that people will soon be blaming the people of Arkansas for living in an area that has so many tornados and that will be the end of it.

Besides, we ain't go no money to fix tornado damage; we bought a very big, expensive war four years ago and the payments and upkeep are just eating up all the discretionary income.

19. He cried, did he? Was somebody standing on his foot?
Or maybe the chicken pot pie he'd been looking forward to at lunchtime got a bit smushed? Because the only times I've seen him sobbing are when it's about HIM. Bombs, hurricanes, tornadoes -- those are things that affect other people. Only good for a pile of rubble to stand on, for the cameras.

18. Let the idiotic right-wing keep going
Was a time, Arkansas had the largest concentration of Marxists anywhere in the US. Arkansawyer
brand culture is QUA Marxism plus Jesus. We'll see a communist upsurge unlike any we've ever seen,
and we'll have only the right-wing to blame. I wish to hell these knuckle-walking wingnuts would
learn some basics about social systems theory.

Being from Ark and all, I have never heard that Ark had the largest concentration of Marxists. Definitely news. Do you have a source or site or something?

27. Hubbard Mantooth
My mother was from Greenwood. The southern socialist bent is an old, well-worn observation, though. Sam Walton
lived in a 2000 square foot house for much of his life. lol The largest chapter of the Socialist Party of America
of 1903 was in Arkansas. The Marxist assessment was by southern historian Hubbard Mantooth. His The American South
book is probably available on loan at the library, though it's one of those academic titles that go in an out of print
faster than thought.

My grandfather was a devout union man. He used to get the "communist" epithet thrown at him all the time, to which my
grandfather would often observe, "We don't have room enough in the house for a dog, let alone a commune". Needless to
say my grandfather was far from a communist or Marxist or socialist. He was a Christian who weirdly believed in all
the Jesus stuff about taking care of his brother. lol

21. Bush wants to teach the good people of AR an important lesson
about what happens to people who vote for Democrats as their governors.

We got a taste of it in CA with the energy debacle several years back.
