Dean Surges To New Lead In Latest Poll (NH)

Primary Win By Dean Seen As Inevitable By Most

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Howard Dean has increased his lead in the New Hampshire primary race, according to a new poll.

In a WMUR-TV survey of 447 likely primary voters, Dean received 46 percent support. Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry received 17 percent, and retired Gen. Wesley Clark was third, with 10 percent.

Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman improved, with 7 percent. North Carolina Sen. John Edwards had 4 percent, Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt had 3 percent, and the remaining major candidates all had 1 percent.

Still, 11 percent of New Hampshire voters surveyed remain undecided.

1. Great news, as far as I'm concerned, and I don't even think Holy Joe

will get 7% here or much else in other primaries. It's all on name recognition for him, and I bet about half of that 7%, when they finally do vote, will say, "Ah, he's a loser," and they'll gamble on someone else.
