Taleban Fighters Seizing Afghan territory
http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/world/story/0,4386,200898,00.html

Funded by drug trafficking, they recruit men in Pakistan to attack US
troops, says top general

KABUL - Hundreds of Taleban fighters have crossed into Afghanistan from
Pakistan and are claiming large swathes of the country, the American
commander of coalition forces said.

As attacks on US and Afghan forces intensified over the weekend, General
Frank Hagenbeck said on Sunday the Taleban and its allies had regrouped
in Pakistan and were recruiting fighters from religious schools in Quetta in a
campaign funded by drug trafficking, the Electronic Telegraph reported
yesterday.

Groups of fighters have
crossed the porous
border and divided
eastern Afghanistan into
three zones for
launching attacks, he
said.

They have been joined
by Al-Qaeda
commanders who are
establishing new cells
and sponsoring the
attempted capture of
American troops.

2. It's only a matter of time
before we have a new "Iran hostage" situation. The only remaining question is whether it will happen in Iraq or Afghanistan first.

Things are really looking bad.

5. I think you have your geography backwards
"...western part of Afghanistan and the eastern part of Pakistan...."

and yes, despite historical and current evidence to the contrary, the PNACers are so deluded as to have initially posited and, for the most part, continues to promote a whole set of illusions...
