Edwards Keeping Controversial Bloggers

Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards announced Thursday that he intends to keep two controversial bloggers as part of his campaign despite criticism from religious conservatives that they are religiously intolerant.

Edwards said he did not approve of the “intolerant language” bloggers Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwen have used on their independent blogs, but he gave assurances that nothing of the sort would appear on his campaign site.

“I’ve talked to Amanda and Melissa; they have both assured me that it was never their intention to malign anyone’s faith and I take them at their word,” Edwards said in a statement released by his campaign.
