SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. -- The federal government has lagged in cleaning up toxic waste sites across the country, including one in this central New Jersey town that is still leaking hazardous materials into the community, New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg and California Sen. Barbara Boxer said Saturday.

Speaking next to the Cornell-Dubilier Electronics facility, Boxer said under the Bush administration the pace of cleanups of Superfund sites _ a ranking of the worst toxic waste locations in the country _ has dropped by about 50 percent, and is expected to fall further.

1. That trillion dollars we're wasting in Iraq would have gone a long
way to making the USA a better country. We all suffer when the war-profiteering mafia gets control of the government.
