WP: Accenture to raise India staff to 35,000 by August
Monday, January 29, 2007; 5:55 AM

BANGALORE (Reuters) - Consulting firm Accenture Ltd. <ACN.N> plans to raise its staff numbers in India by 30 percent to 35,000 by August, overtaking the United States as its biggest employment hub, Chief Executive William Green said on Monday.

The expansion underscores India's growing importance as a destination for outsourcing.

Accenture, one of the world's largest consulting companies, currently employs 27,000 people in India, spread across six cities -- Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai, accounting for about 19 percent of its global workforce.

It has about 30,000 employees in the United States. "At 35,000 people at the end of our fiscal year, India will become the largest country for Accenture, passing the United States," Green told reporters.

I guess that Accenture can't find anyone skilled in the US. :sarcasm:

1. Isn't Accenture a spinoff from Arthur Anderson?
And early on wasn't one of their jobs scrubbing the voting lists in Fla at Jeb and Harris's request (a job that had been done by state govt but was outsourced at a much greater cost - in $ and in shoddy work - unless that shoddy work was exactly what Jebco wanted in time for the 2000 election in Fla...)

Ugh!

6. And they put their headquarters "off-shore" so they don't have to pay U. S. taxes

3. A few years ago their CEO told its leadership group...
"Our main business is outsourcing." They "re-organize" companies, extract the knowledge from Americans, have them train their replacements overseas, then fire their "targets."

This was just as they moved their "headquarters" to the Caribbean to evade taxes.

Lou Dobbs refers to them as a "foreign company." They have make huge hidden payments to the GOP, in addition to what they declare.

4. Can't find anyone at that pay scale you mean.
This is rotten. Accenture and Anderson used to be big players in our area. Businesses here are still reeling from the revenue loss when those businesses closed down and moved away.

8. Yep.
They play a mean shell game. Leave a big bill with little to show for.
