N. Korea Rejects U.S. Nuke Crisis Remedy
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=516&ncid=716&e=6&u=/ap/20031215/ap_on_re_as/koreas_nuclear

SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea (news - web sites) on Monday rejected a U.S. proposal to end a nuclear dispute and warned that Washington's "delaying tactics" would only prompt the communist government to step up development of atomic weapons.

The North's main state-run newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, said the U.S. offer, sent to Pyongyang last week, did not meet North Korea's demand for "a package solution based on the principle of simultaneous actions."

North Korea wants a deal that would trade aid and security guarantees for the dismantling of its nuclear program. The United States says North Korea must give up its nuclear weapons first.

"If the U.S. fully accepts the DPRK-proposed simultaneous package solution, though belatedly, the DPRK is ready to respond to it with the elimination of all its nuclear weapons," Rodong said, using the acronym of the North's official name, Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

1. Deja Vu ...
<snip>
"As the U.S. urges the DPRK to dismantle its nuclear weapons completely, verifiably and irreversibly,
<snip>

If he plays the game long enough then this regime will finally get the chance to pre-emptively strike. I think this regime wants to take him out with nukes, but biding their time.

DEPKA or somwehere I've visited lately mentioned something about the US or South Korea possibly using some nerve agent to shoot across it's border and then go in while bombs went overhead to nuke the facilities?

:shrug:

2. ???? Does the USA think that NK don't watch the news or what ???

. . After what happened in Iraq, ESPECIALY now that Saddam has been captured, does not anyone see what the leaders in NK see as their "future" if they disarm ??

. . I's jus a dumm Canuk and I wouldn't be disarming on any word from the USA

. . and you can bet ur sweet bippie that there's alot of scrambling going on in the arms trade for many countries to get whatever they can lay their hands on - countries that wouldn't have even CONSIDERED doing so before

. . Da BFEE has shown what "good" it does to disarm ! !

. . And I fear that the next (and their WILL be a "next") country that the USA invades WILL play VERY dirty. When one thinks about it, Saddam did NOT fight a "dirty" war - no WMD's, no bioweapons, no long range missiles, not even ONE plane in the air !

. . Da BFEE has made it's place in the world, noone wants the USA in their countries, heck - ambassadors are being called/sent home almost every week lately?

. . Da world would NOT miss the USA if they just all went home, and built a wall around themselves (which the've sorta done in a logistal sense - maybe they can buy that wall offa China?)

And Gawd help Murikkka if GeeDubya or anyone like him gets in the WH in 2004

Just My Cynical Canuk's Opinion
