Schweitzer outlines energy plan for U.S. (dem radio address)
Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer said Saturday the United States could be energy independent in 10 years through conservation and using coal for fuel.

Schweitzer used the Democrats' Saturday radio address to warn against U.S. President George W. Bush's Iraq policies, saying outsiders cannot resolve "animosities between Sunni and Shiite people in the Middle East that have developed over centuries."

He quickly shifted to energy issues and how "we import 4 billon (barrels of oil) from some of the world's worst dictators" each year.

Schweitzer said the United States could save 1 billion barrels of oil through the use of more efficient cars, houses and appliances, and another 1 billion barrels could be produced from biofuels made from U.S. crops.

1. Schweitzer represents what should be the party's future
He is an unrepentant progressive who tells people the truth in language everyone understands without talking down to them.

The wonks inside the DC beltway aren't paying attention, though.

3. That's our great Governor

Brian is the future of the Democratic Party and would make an outstanding part of an 08 ticket; he is the reason Montana is turning blue and his kind will turn the rest of the west

5. Right on 10 Years, Wrong on CTL
as it is a global warming disaster in the making (two times the carbon impact of conventional liquid fuels). And carbon sequestration, like the 'hydrogen economy', is unproven at scale.

The way forward is electrification of personal and long haul transportation.
