TACOMA, Wash. -- A student was shot at Foss High School in Tacoma as school was getting under way on Wednesday. The student was taken to a hospital.

Police surrounded the school and the school was placed under lockdown, police said.

Police spokesman Mark Fulghum said police are inside the school and are evacuating students. He was not sure if the shooter is still inside the school and he was unsure if anyone was hurt in the incident at about 7:30 a.m.

Fulghum said the goal at a little after 8 a.m. was to clear the school and find out what happened.

There was no immediate word on the condition of the victim.

but went to school up the hill, at Bellarmine.

It was a nice campus; I don't remember it ever had the reputation of being "troubled". This is a real shame.

We lose more people from guns in America than Iraq/terrorism/Afghanistan etc. In fact we lose almost as many from guns as from car accidents due to the USA's weakest of advanced nations gun regulations.

TACOMA -- A student was shot and killed at Foss High School in Tacoma on Wednesday morning. Tacoma police reported that they’d captured a suspect in the shooting in the 4500 block of South 16th Street about 9:30 a.m. and were taking him to police headquarters for questioning.
