Lynne Cheney brushes off fuss over Mary’s pregnancy
Associated Press

<snip>

"Dick and I both very much looking forward to this new baby,’’ Mrs. Cheney said in an interview to be aired on Fox News Sunday.

She said her daughter will be a "great mom.’’

Mrs. Cheney also said she thinks it’s odd that her husband’s former chief of staff is the only person being tried in the CIA leak case.

"It seems bizarre to me,’’ Mrs. Cheney said.

...

Asked about the Democratic takeover of the House and Senate in the midterm elections, Mrs. Cheney said scandals cost the GOP many votes.

"I think Iraq was part of it, but I also think that you had some extraordinary ethical failures,’’ she said. "They were bipartisan, but I do think the Republicans paid a great price for that.’’

8. The best reaction should have been to thank Kerry, but they are
too sensitive about their daughter's sexuality.

Wasn't it Edwards who said it during the VP debate?

5. LOL!! "Bi-partisan??"
Even for Fauz News, that line is just hilarious. Let's see a bried "Drit-Bag Roundup":

Republicans: Tom DeLay, Bob Ney, Mark Foley, Don Sherwood, Richard Pombo, Conrad Burns, Duke Cunningham, Bill Frist, Bob Taft, Dennis Hastert, Jack Abramoff, Scooter Libby, Jeff Gannon, Rev. Haggart.

Democrats: William Jefferson

On JibJab, they have a great year-end retrospective that has these great lines (to the tune of "jingle Bells":

"Abramoff, Tom Delay, Freezers full of cash!
My Congressman IM'ed me for a picture of my ass!"

9. The double standards these people have for
on the one hand, themselves, and on the other hand, everybody else, is just amazing.

12. "Superior" Standards
What explains the Cheney attitude is that their double standard is based on the notion that their values are superior to anyone elses.

It is a typical elitist idea ... us common rabble need a stricter set of standards and morals to live up to because we are the 'unwashed masses' and need to be told what to do -- so that our society can have order.

On the other hand, superior people like Richard Bruce Cheney and his family (and the Bush family, et al.) can have a set of values that permit them the 'freedom' to do whatever they wish -- because they are our god-chosen 'leaders'.

Like Hitler, Stalin, Napoleon, etc. -- the Cheney-Bush clique have a belief in their own superiority.

So, Bush and Lynne and Dick really don't see their acceptance of Mary Cheney's lifestyle as a double standard ... they see it within the context of their own superior morality -- a value system the rest of us are just too inferior to understand.

Enjoying a rich life which is inconsistent with the high standards which they exhort others to adhere to. Hypocrites.

16. What about Heather Poe being a "great mom?"
No one is acknowledging Mary's life partner, who will also be a mother to the child.

18. Dear Lynne, Your party has been very vocally against both unwed motherhood and same sex parents.
Dear Lynne,

Your party has been very vocally against both unwed motherhood and same sex parents.

In order to prevent your daughter having a child out of wedlock, would you support her being able to marry her partner? Or are they married already?

They're all saying Mary will be a good mom - someone needs to ask if they think Heather will be.

with both a mother and a father? I think this is the republic policy.
