GM To Cut Overnight Shift At Spring Hill Plant (500 Temp. Jobs)
Last Update: 12/21/2006 9:40:04 AM

A union official says General Motors will cut the overnight shift at the Spring Hill assembly plant, eliminating about 500 temporary jobs.

Mike Herron, chairman of the local United Auto Workers union, said the cuts will start tomorrow and will be phased out over the next month.

The cuts will only affect the Saturn Vue assembly line, which the plant will quit making in March when the assembly moves to Mexico.

1. Um, is this part of the "War on Chrissmuss"? Will we be hearing from the Chrissmuss Crusaders soon?
Or do they not bother much about real people getting socked on the jaw for the holidays?

Maybe that doesn't make baby Jeebus cry.

Less'n the overnight-shifters decide they're not much in the mood to say "Merry Chrissmuss." Then there'll be hell to pay, you bet.

4. GM is making a big mistake
By moving production of Saturn cars to Mexico and Europe. I've owned a Saturn for years, and part of the appeal was "A Different Kind of Company...a Different Kind of Car" ad campaign. I doubt I will be buying another one..

5. Why aren't employees protesting this?

on edit: Prices for cars are not going to go down. Meaning that it will cost less to build them, more profit and the loss of American jobs.
