The city has decided the May 2007 election will be done by mail-in ballots only.

Tuesday, the Denver Election Commission (DEC) voted to conduct an all-mail ballot election on May 1, 2007.

The DEC says if there is a June 5 runoff, that will also be done by mail-in ballots only.

Additionally, the DEC says if there is an election on January 30th, it is possible that would be an all-mail ballot.

1. So the tampering could occur in the post office, or on arrival, or............
And no way in hell to know how many votes were actually submitted?

2. it's up to the voter to prevent that from happening...
If you don't recieve your ballot by a week or so before the election, you call and let them know. They send you a new one, which invalidates the first one. Then you don't mail it back, but drop it off at a designated locked box. (usually in the Library or the county office.)

Good luck with those opti-scans actually counting it right though.

3. Oregon has been doing this for years and they are very happy with their system
Neither side has expressed any of the fears you do. They also have an 80% turnout. What other state has that? I think it is about time more people are waking up and making voting something that is easy and painless so more will actually do it...
