The FBI is worried that news of his death could lead to terror attacks, so the FBI is telling the news that this illness could lead to his death?

4. Sounds like maybe a new twist on terror alerts
Americans are growing immune to simply changing the color chart status when Bush needs a boost in the public eye. Maybe they're trying to lay some groundwork and add believability to a soon-to-be-announced increase in the threat level (just in time for the holidays). The timing seems about right:Chimpy just stalled on making his big decision on Iraq and EVERYBODY is telling him it's time to change. We know he won't and will look for a bullshit reason to feed us to explain why. Nothing like a little terra threat to try once again to scare the people into formation behind the leader.

3. This will give pause to many right wingnuts
Because many of them claim that Clinton never did anything to retaliate for the 1993 WTC attack.
They write LTTEs insisting on this, and they repeat it enough times that more and more of them believe this.

6. It has been said that Rahman also was closely tied to Afghan warlord
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and was heavily involved with and clandestine CIA and ISI efforts to defeat the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Rahman travelled all over the world for five years recruiting new mujaheddin for the Afghan war.

FBI: Al Qaeda leader's illness triggers attack fears

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The "blind sheik" who inspired the World Trade Center bombing has been hospitalized, raising fears of new attacks if he dies in U.S. custody, the FBI said in a bulletin.

Radical Egyptian cleric Omar Abdel-Rahman, 68, spat up blood on December 6 and was rushed to a hospital, the FBI notice said.

...snip...

Rahman, who is serving life in a U.S. prison, has himself called for attacks if he dies in jail. Law enforcement sources stress that there is no intelligence to suggest there are any attacks being planned.

...snip...

The FBI bulletin includes what it said was his last will and testament distributed at an al Qaeda news conference in 1998: "My brothers, if they kill me -- which they will certainly do -- hold my funeral and send my corpse to my family but do not let my blood be shed in vain. Rather extract the most violent revenge."

FBI: Cleric's illness may spark attack

By LARA JAKES JORDAN, Associated Press Writer 18 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - The health of terrorist cleric Omar Abdel-Rahman, known as the Blind Sheik, is deteriorating — renewing fears that his death in prison could trigger an attack on the United States, officials said Thursday.

There is no credible indication that an attack on the U.S. is imminent, said several law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the situation.

In a two-page bulletin, dated Dec. 8, the
FBI reported to federal intelligence officials that Abdel-Rahman had been rushed from prison to a Missouri hospital two days earlier for a blood transfusion. There, doctors discovered a tumor on Rah liver, according to the bulletin, which was described to The Associated Press by a law enforcement official.

But U.S. Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman Tracy Billingsley said Abdel-Rahman's condition had stabilized, and he has since been moved back to prison.

"His condition has improved," Billingsley said.
