Kerry to meet soldiers, leaders in Iraq
WASHINGTON - Sen.John Kerry, whose botched joke about U.S. troops in Iraq dealt a blow to his presidential ambitions, will travel to Iraq this weekend to meet with soldiers, political leaders and military officials.

"I've talked to plenty of guys who've come back from Iraq, who are there now, who understand exactly what happened," Kerry said of his joke in a telephone interview Tuesday with The Associated Press. "They laugh at it."

The Iraq stop will be part of a nine-day Mideast trip that includes stops in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Israel.

1. We are a sorry country if a botched joke sinks him.

2. That he still has to talk about it is ridiculous
The Repubs really know how to grab onto something on run with it.

With all the loony things George has said over the years...

Amazing.

3. Agreed
With all the crooks who seem to get into and stay in office, here we have someone who has not a single whiff of corruption who gets ripped up over tiny things. All the while Hastert is not going anywhere...

I hope this trip silences some of Kerry's critics on the right and the left. I doubt it will, sadly.

4. What's this? A post from a sane person?
Thanks for the sanity.
