http://www.centcom.mil/CENTCOMNews/Casualty_Report.asp?CasualtyReport=20031210.txt

December 11, 2003
Release Number: 03-12-10C

BAGHDAD, Iraq –A Task Force 1st Armored Division soldier drowned late last night, and one is still missing.

The drowned soldier was found at approximately 8:50 a.m. this morning.

The soldiers were conducting routine patrols on the Tigris River when one of the soldiers fell overboard, and the other soldier jumped in to save him.

since this was "non-hostile" he probably will not be counted in the total KIA

Doesn't make him less dead - my sorrow's are extended to his family and loved ones

4. "BRING EM ON" ---- A senseless death--In the Line of Duty.
Guess the family or families if there are 2, will have A MISERABLE XMAS.

I'm sure the CHIMPANZEE and Halliburton's stockholders will have a VERY MERRY Christmas

2. More evidence of wrong troops, wrong equipment, wrong war?

1. What is a track-head doing patrolling on the water? What did he fall off? I think Strykers, Bradleys, and Abrahms if they are amphibious at all, are only intended to cross water obstacles not patrol on them

2. Have the Armored units trained and practiced on-the-water? Or Did the Pentagon folks just figure all of Iraq was a desert?

3. I guess life-jackets either weren't available or not sufficient to float a grown man presumably wearing body armor and carrying ammuniition etc

4. Why isn't this a Navy, Marine, or Coast Guard duty?
