http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGAG7T5M0OD.html

As of Tuesday, Dec. 9, 448 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 308 died as a result of hostile action and 140 died of non-hostile causes, the department said. snip

1. Don, do you have numbers for "arms and legs" blown off? Over 2,000 and
probably closer to 3,000. The "maimed" coming home might be worse than what came home in the first five years of Viet Nam.

Are those soldiers going to forget? forgive? And, what are they coming home to? Will they claim Americans were shopping at "Walmart" and forgot about them? Will they claim that those of us who stood on street corners here in NC and took abuse were "supporting the terrorists?"

What? These are the things about "WAR" that America never addresses.

The folks at home who "Flag Waved" them to death or dismemberment, or the "Anti-Invasion Folks who tried to keep them home and out of "harm's way."

Which is it? They will be "forgotten" like the Viet Nam soldiers felt they were. Returning home to "little towns" in the hinterlands where they will be forgotten as "collateral damage." Blending in..keeping quiet excerpt to what Army consellors they can afford..and going for "check ups" or "rehab" at the closest VA Hospital many, many miles away.

They will be FORGOTTEN....as we buy our Christmas Presents and keep the US Economy Afloat with our "Consumer Purchases."

What are they dying or being maimed for? What?

2. And the Dems need to shove those stats down America's throats
That's why I said that it's only the killing that will ever get through to these people---the reasons for war have gone right over their heads! One here and one there and six there also go over their heads. I noted that Dean today started his intro to Gore by mentioning "500 body bags"...do don't dump on me for saying that this is what will get through to the people 'cause even Dean used it. BUT BUT BUT they need to keep putting the numbers to it and the numbers of wounded and stressing those who don't exactly have a splinter in their finger but life-altering wounds. AND they need to fly it on a banner over the Dem convention. We need to advertise it or they will ride right over it--they depend on us not bringing it up. SOOOOO, why aren't we. I'm not a Dean supporter but for Christ's sake at least he says it right out loud. Sometimes, I think the Dems are useless............
