Federal Grand Jury Indicts Former SCAA Executive
OCTOBER 20, 2006 -- Former chief operating officer for the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), Scott Welker, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for theft and wire fraud, including misappropriation of federal grant funds, according to a statement issued by the Long Beach Police Department on Friday.

"Once we've had an opportunity to thoroughly review the charges issued by the Grand Jury, the SCAA will issue additional details," said SCAA president, Rob Stephen.

A crime report was initiated in September of 2005 by SCAA, alleging financial losses. The investigation is ongoing, and according to the Long Beach Police Department, additional indictments are expected.
