Poll: Incumbent leads Michigan gov. race
Poll: Incumbent leads Michigan gov. race

LANSING, Mich. - Gov. Jennifer Granholm has pulled slightly ahead of Republican challenger Dick DeVos with less than a month to go before the election, according to a poll published Sunday.

Forty-nine percent of likely voters polled said they would choose Granholm if the election were held today, while 41 percent chose DeVos, according to the poll published in the Detroit Free Press. Ten percent were listed as "other/not sure."

The telephone survey of 643 likely voters was conducted Oct. 8 through Wednesday by Des Moines, Iowa-based Selzer & Co. for the newspaper and Detroit television station WDIV. It had a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Michigan is a closely watched state as Democrats try to hold and win governorships and try to wrest control of Congress in the Nov. 7 election.

Amway people in position of power are scarier than a Republican in a position in power. An Amway Republican? YIKES!!!

2. We need to win the Governor's races in big states.
NY, Michigan, Pennsylvania. Top of the ticket votes will help with Senate, House and state leg. races as well. I wish we were more competitive in CA, FL and Texas.

5. DeVos Has Been Imploding
The man must not understand anything about campaigning. He thinks he can run Michigan like he ran Amway? We don't have hereditary kings, Dick.

7. I thought it was his dad that ran Amway
Isn't DeVos like Smirk - a lifetime loser who'd be living in a box if his dad hadn't been rich?

11. I am sure that 8 point lead would be a "solid" lead if DeVos were ahead.

12. WKAR in Lansing called Grandholm's lead "slight" this morning
I expected it to be within the margin of error, not 8 points, which sounds like a "commanding lead" to me...

13. It's going to be a close election
In 2002, the polls had her up by a similar margin, and she won by about 2%.

The economy here sucks. It's not Granholm's fault that the auto industry is having such problems, but people hold it against whoever is in office at the time.

I think she'll win, but I think it's going to be very close. AA on the ballot and the desertion of muslim voters from the GOP will likely tip the balance in her favor.
