Flaws found in European voting machines "similar to US"
Researchers detail serious vulnerabilities 'strikingly similar' to those found in U.S. e-voting machines

By Robert McMillan, IDG News Service

October 09, 2006

Dutch researchers have found flaws in electronic voting systems used in the Netherlands, Germany, and France.

A paper published Friday describes flaws in the Nedap / Groenendaal ES3B voting machine, used by 90 percent of voters in the Netherlands. It was written by a team of e-voting researchers, led by Rop Gonggrijp and Willem-Jan Hengeveld, and can be found here.

The paper is hosted on the Web site of the group "Wij vertrouwen stemcomputers niet" (or "We don't trust voting computers") which bills itself as a "coalition of citizens concerned about the use of voting computers during Dutch elections."

The report, based on a month-long investigation into machines that were obtained from municipalities in the Netherlands, describes some serious vulnerabilities in the systems, which are also used in Germany and France, according to the report's authors.

1. Does anyone know if Nedap / Groenendaal is a sub. of Diebold?
Or if they have some economic/political ties with the vote-stealers here in the US?

Would show any familial connections.

They noted remarkable similarities to the present situation in the United States.
The machines use ISS election management software according to their site.
Apparently the Irish Commission on Electronic Voting has been finding all kinds of things wrong as well.

This has hit the MSM over there. "Right-wingers" claim all is ok, lefties are screaming foul! Manufacturer wants to sue activists group, plus the group has found all kinds of irregularities which they post on their website.

The Dutch researchers also describe how the ES3B's radio emanations could be monitored to find out how voters were casting their electronic ballots. Felten and other Princeton researchers released a similar report last month on Diebold's AccuVote-TS, in which they claimed to be able to install vote-altering software on Diebold's machines in less than a minute.

2. The coincidence is just too striking
I can understand random similarities when using the same operating system and coding similar functions. A comparison of the software modules relating to similar voting functions would quickly show a pattern of behavior.
