Letters on Voter ID Confuse Ga. Voters
http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/nat-elect/2006/oct/06/100603136.html

ATLANTA (AP) - Tens of thousands of Georgia voters recently received letters telling them they must show a photo ID to cast a ballot Nov. 7 - a message some fear will create confusion on Election Day, since a judge recently struck down the requirement.

The State Board of Elections mailed more than 300,000 of the letters - about 20,000 of them after the judge issued his ruling Sept. 19.

Board of Elections vice chairman Claud "Tex" McIver said he does not expect voter confusion will be a problem this fall.

"Just walk in the door," McIver said Friday.

1. A guy named "Tex" in Georgia?
That's not quite as bad as a guy named George in Texas.

4. So are you going to send another mailer Tex?
Those people won't "just walk in the door" if they don't have the now un-needed ID will they?

But then, that was the point, wasn't it. Mission at least partially accomplished.

6. "There are no plans to send out additional mailings... "
"...or make public service announcements; McIver said there is not enough money in the budget to do that."

Gee, the $8,000 in postage for that last batch of 20,000 illegally sent postcards would have bought a decent amount of public service announcements.

Mission accomplished is right!

5. Sounds like democrats need to send a letter to all registered dems
Dear dem voter,

You are probably aware of past and present efforts, by "some" people, to keep you from voting.

A few points to remember..

1) the election is on NOVEMBER 7th.. It's ALWAYS on a TUESDAY

2) you should call or visit the registrar of voters to VERIFY THAT YOU ARE IN FACT REGISTERED...make sure your proper address is listed

3) check to make sure you know EXACTLY where your voting place is

4) bring ALL the ID you can muster..especially photo id..

call our office @ ...-...-.... for more information

Hold a press conference close to the election and request television to run crawlers during their newscast and radio stations do a 10 second spot informing the public of the change? ON A DAILY BASIS and on election day and the day before do it more often?
