AP Learns Gitmo Guards Brag of Beatings
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/10/06/D8KJ8DB81.html

Guards at Guantanamo Bay bragged about beating detainees and described it as common practice, a Marine sergeant said in a sworn statement obtained by The Associated Press.

The two-page statement was sent Wednesday to the Inspector General at the Department of Defense by a high-ranking Marine Corps defense lawyer.

The lawyer sent the statement on behalf of a paralegal who said men she met on Sept. 23 at a bar on the base identified themselves to her as guards. The woman, whose name was blacked out, said she spent about an hour talking with them. No one was in uniform, she said.

A 19-year-old sailor referred to only as Bo "told the other guards and me about him beating different detainees being held in the prison," the statement said.

"One such story Bo told involved him taking a detainee by the head and hitting the detainee's head into the cell door. Bo said that his actions were known by others," the statement said. The sailor said he was never punished.

2. it looks like we have paid for expansion of the torture chambers
<snip>

Described as the most dangerous of America's "war on terror" prisoners, fewer than a dozen inmates have been charged with crimes. This fall, the Navy plans to open a new, $30-million maximum-security wing at its prison complex there, a concrete-and-steel structure replacing temporary camps.

4. Beating, Torture and ...?
I don't know why I'm always surprised by this, especially with the attitude of the current administration. If we say it's okay to bully, beat and torture detainees, we must be prepared when our military personnel receive the same treatment. Unfortunately, the U.S. soldiers who have/are/will be captured are not the ones who have created this mess. I still think Bush's daughters should be sent to the front lines, and then we would see some serious changes made. But as long as it's everyone else's children/husbands/wives/brothers/sisters being killed over there, I guess Bush has no incentive to uphold the terms of the Geneva Convention. C'mon, November 7th...

8. They should be so proud of themselves. Grandkids will love to hear their
good old gramps take them upon their knees and tell them of the days when they abused their fellow man repeatedly, sadistically, and without conscience.

Q: What do Americans do after they commit war crimes?
A: They pass a law that says they can't be prosecuted for committing war crimes.

12. We can't let these people get away with this. We can't
We will wear the guilt just the same as if we threw the punch if we allow them to get away with this

and by "them" I mean the entire Bush Regime and all the other guilty

We must hold them accountable. We must see them arrested and tried for war crimes.

13. What I am about to say is in no way a defense of anyone who did this .....
..... but, as is the case for virtually any case where this happens, in this war or any war, the blame rests with the system and the command structure. There is simply no way on God's Blue Earth the command structure was unaware of the bragging, let alone the beatings.

If all we get out of this is another Lyndie England and her retard sergeant boyfriend, then we have NOTHING. As in Iraq, this goes all the fucking way up the chain to Rumsfeld. That motherfucker is a war criminal. In fact, more than Il Dunce the Clueless Leader, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, and Gonzo are the war criminals. Il Dunce is a war criminal too, but might beat the rap by mental midgetism.

Marine: Gitmo Guards Bragged of Beatings

By THOMAS WATKINS
Associated Press Writer

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (AP) -- Guards at Guantanamo Bay bragged about beating detainees and described it as common practice, a Marine sergeant said in a sworn statement obtained by The Associated Press

<snipping>

Other guards "also told their own stories of abuse towards the detainees" that included hitting them, denying them water and "removing privileges for no reason."

"About 5 others in the group admitted hitting detainees" and that included "punching in the face," the affidavit said.

"From the whole conversation, I understood that striking detainees was a common practice," the sergeant wrote. "Everyone in the group laughed at the others stories of beating detainees."

17. Nov. 3, 2004 U.S. Soldier Brutally Beaten By Soldiers At Guantanamo
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/11/02/60II/main652953.shtml

(CBS) Pictures from Abu Ghraib prison tell a story that has shocked the world.

There are no pictures of what happened in the prison camp at Guantanamo last year. But Correspondent Bob Simon has a shocking story -- and it's not about what Americans did to foreign detainees. It's about what Americans did to a fellow American soldier, Sean Baker.
Sean Baker has seizures an average of four times a week. 60 Minutes Wednesday went to see him a few weeks ago in a New York hospital.

Baker, a National Guardsman, was working last year as a military policeman in the Guantanamo Bay prison when other MPs injured him during a training drill. It was a drill during which Baker was only obeying orders.

"I was assaulted by these individuals," says Baker. "Pure and simple."

It’s all the more bizarre because Baker was considered a model soldier and he had served as an MP in Saudi Arabia during the First Gulf War.
