(Andy Card) Ex-presidential aide confirms accounts in new book
Card proposed replacements for Rumsfeld
By Michael Kranish, Globe Staff | September 30, 2006

WASHINGTON -- Andrew H. Card Jr. , President Bush's former chief of staff, confirmed in an interview last night that he suggested replacements for Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and decided to quit his own post because ``I think America was crying out for some kind of change. I felt that very strongly."

Card, who left the White House in April , made his comments in a telephone conversation from California after reading excerpts from a forthcoming book, ``State of Denial," by Bob Woodward.

The book reports that Card twice urged Bush to replace Rumsfeld, including once with the backing of Laura Bush.

Card is a former Massachusetts legislator known for his low-key style and loyalty to Bush. He described life during more than five years in the White House as being in a sometimes-frenetic mixing bowl of Type A personalities.

As chief of staff, he said, he sometimes viewed his job this way: ``When people would throw sand in somebody's underwear, my job was to take it out."

1. Our beautiful Lady America needs help. Freedom must be accompanied
by respect of individual rights. All these years of Constitutional Law
hammered out with blood, honor, and wisdom has been stripped surgically away to twist logic for profit and common sense for corruption.

``I think America was crying out for some kind of change. I felt that very strongly."

This quote personifies our collective love for all humankind. This country is to stand as a beacon of freedom, not a gated elite ever watched ever confined user nation.

Will she ever regain her welcoming smile.

16. It's amazing how many golden opportunities Dems have to capitalize
on all this, this shit, and yet they do nothing. It's breath taking.

4. I wonder if this also explains why there seems to be more
distance between Laura and GWB. Maybe she's been critical of some things and landed herself on the shit list, too.

6. as well as the continuous attention Bush* gives to Rice...
She apparently enables Bush* in all his nutsy decisions. If Laura finally got some gumption and disagreed a time or two, the narcissistic, incredibly insecure Bush, would, of course, see this as disloyalty. Both consciously and subconsciously, Bush* would be drawn away from his "lump" and over to the fawning Rice....

God, help us....

13. Actually, Pickles was at the podium speaking while these two
share their intimate look. bush's WIFE is on stage yet he has his focus totally on condi. Seems to me the tabloids that have been reporting trouble between bush and laura because of condi are not off base at all.

Here is the caption that is under that pic:

27. no, I cannot wait to see * implode in the years after his 'retirement'
from public office.
A good dem or two in the oval office will put this to rights. Dems have been cleaning up after the republicans for ages.

26. Card...
It seems Card and Powell were fired by the Nixon "crazies" - Cheney and Rummy.
These two have a stranglehold on the executive branch.

7. For God's sake, Card and others with any shred of integrity left should
scream out the truth behind this cabal. It may already be too late.

8. Too Little and too late from L'il Awful Andy!
If Dandy Andy had a single molecule of integrity left in his corrupted soul, he would have gone public while still in office.

But he didn't. It was more important for him to let Bush wipe his ass with the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

F YOU, ANDY!

9. So, the outright denial from the White House that this event ever
took place would once again confirm that they are seemingly INCAPABLE OF TELLING THE TRUTH.

How can we trust individuals who have lied repeatedly to us before?

I continue to remember My Pet Goat".

Whatever they say, I've come to assume the opposite is true.

22. Woodward is a Republican propagandist. He's been caught with his hand
pulling out a bag of fudge covered oreos from the cookie jar, and now they trot him back out again and people believe him?

21. Who Cares
I'm sick that the Dems are letting a repub OPERATIVE like Woodie, speak for them.

DON'T BUY HIS BOOK!! If you want to, buy another copy of Keith's instead, and give to a friend.

He's an OPPORTUNIST, and all he gives a SHIT about is profiting off the sudden change of mood in this country. He was willing to sit in jail for Judy Miller, because he believed she was honorable.

HE'S A REPUB through and through. And who really gives a shit about who wanted Rummy removed. It hasn't happened, and IT WON'T HAPPEN, so long as King george is in power.
