Rasmussen: Bush Approval Falls To 40%
Sep 29, 2006

The President's job approval among American adults
fell two points to 40% today. Fifty-seven percent
(57%) disapprove of the way the president is per-
forming his job. A look at the overall numbers for
September suggests that the president is doing a
bit better than he did in August, but that there
has not been a major re-assessment of his perfor-
mance.

Sep 29 40% approve 57% disapprove
Sep 28 42-55%
Sep 27 42-55%
Sep 26 42-56%
Sep 25 43-54%
Sep 24 45-53%

In 1994, Clinton had a 45% approval rating and a 46% disapproval rating. With that the GOP managed to take 9 Senate Seats and 54 Houses seats (net gains). The GOP received about 52.25% of the popular vote as compared to the Democrats 46.00%.

2. Who'd have thunk we'd be cheering at Rasmussen polls
Razzie was pimping these numbers when Bush was in the low 30's.

4. I imagine a large part of that 40% are hoping their "approval" saves them
someday. You know, now that El Presidente has the legal power to call anyone an enemy combatant & disappear them. "If you're not with us you're against us" and all.

7. I needed a little good news today
Even Bush's highs aren't that high and don't stay for long. And yet Bush is getting awful bills passed. Thankfully, it looks like he won't get his way on making wiretapping legal.

16. I love good news
The figure I heard that cheers me up
is 6%. That was the percentage of the
total vote the GOP won by in 1994.

If the 10 or so point Democratic lead
holds (and 10% is on the low end of
the overall polling), the victory in
November is going to be a huge.

And payback time is going to be sweet.
