How the hell can this be true? I'm shocked.

Poll: Lieberman leads Lamont by 10 points

By William L. Watts, MarketWatch
Last Update: 10:23 AM ET Sep 28, 2006

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Sen. Joe Lieberman has a 10-point lead over Democratic nominee Ned Lamont in the battle for Connecticut's U.S. Senate seat, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.

The survey found Lieberman, running for reelection as an independent, holds a 49% to 39% lead among likely voters over Lamont, with 5% for Republican Alan Schlesinger and 7% undecided.

Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,181 Connecticut likely voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.

Lamont had trailed Lieberman 53% to 41%, with 4% for Schlesinger in an Aug. 17 poll. Lamont defeated Lieberman in Connecticut's Democratic primary in August. Lamont ran on an anti-war platform, and blasted Lieberman as too cozy with President Bush and congressional Republicans.
But Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz said Lamont's candidacy has lost momentum.

"He's gained only two points in six weeks. He's going to have to do something different in the next six weeks or Sen. Joseph Lieberman stays in for another six years," Schwartz said. "Lamont wins among those who say Iraq is the most important issue to their vote, but that is only 35 percent of the electorate. Lieberman wins on all the other issues voters say matter most to them, including terrorism and the economy."

1. One explanation
He's retained all of his primary supporters and gained some independents and Republicans.

3. Then the "unlikely" voters have to show up.

That means young people and single women.

May I suggest that Lamont recruit some hot movie and rock stars for his campaign?

5. Simple
Money. Liberman has been airing commercials and getting face time on the news, Lamont has been quiet lately. Not spending cash on advertising. I have no idea why. His face and name should be plastered everywhere if he wants to win. He needs to fight for it.
