China claims fusion reactor test a success

BEIJING - China claimed to have carried out a successful first test Thursday on its experimental thermonuclear fusion reactor.

The officials Xinhua News Agency report gave no details about the nature of the test or the results, saying only it was carried out on a Tokamak fusion device in Hefei, the capital of eastern China's Anhui province.

1. Yeah but how long did they run the test?
Was it exothermic? Did the reactor walls melt or not? Achieving fusion has been done already. It's the achieving long term exothermic fusion that will get my attention.
