40. Ummm,,,contrary to popular belief in many other parts of the country,
Minnesota is not cold year round. We can still be having temperatures in the 80s and 90s in early September (along with high humidity).

The dates for this are weird. Monday, September 1 - Thursday the 4th. In 2008, September 1 is Labor Day, though I suppose that's not a holiday Republicans acknowledge.

48. Got up to like 103° this summer
In Minnesota and the Dakota, it is quite possible for the difference in temperatures between the year's high and the year's low to be a full 140°.

We like it; it keeps the state from getting crowded. :-)

'Cept on the damn Hwy 62/I-35W interchange. Thank GOD the feds and our Republican governor kept the taxpayer's money from being wasted on roads and bridges and they wisely spent it on tax cuts for the top 1% and unfiltered drinking water for our troops.

3. I guess Tampa and in Hurricane Season
did not make the GOP happy.....

I am loving it... They were just saying it would cost Tampa's Taxpayers 12 million... IMHO 100 million would be more like it

34. They might not have wanted to have been associated with the Bush name

Thinking about the Jebster here. But the RNC knows the Boosh name has a taint about it.

And Katherine Harris might have insisted on being involved. And that could have been an embarrassment too.

4. Damn, that means no Democratic Convention
I heard that we weren't going to try to do both of them because of the complexity involved. I personally would like to see one in St. Paul and one in Minneapolis, but oh well.

It will be their own fault, too, for choosing to hold a convention in enemy territory (cities that went 80% for Kerry).

I had heard the DNC had narrowed it down to NYC & Minneapolis, with Denver a distant third. Why we are having another conventionon the coast is beyond me.

31. Hopefully, they'll discuss the following
1. How to defeat President Pelosi.
2. How to spin the intelligence manipulation indictment against Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney.
3. How to spin the conflict of interest indictment against Mr. Cheney.
4. How to spin the fact that a majority of Republican senators voted to convict both Bush and Cheney on some impeachment articles.
5. How to spin the indictments of Ken Blackwell, Katherine Harris and Jeb Bush on election fraud charges.
6. How to respond to mass demonstrations outside the convention hall denoucing the GOP as fascist.
7. How to spin public opinion surveys that show most Americans agree with the demonstrators.
8. How to distance themselves from the keynote speaker who suggests the summary execution of Keith Olbermann is in order once they retake power.

32. look for a bill to declare demonstrators "enemy combatants."
i am serious.
the president i swear is looking for ways to strip citizens of their constitutional rights in the event of a "national emergency." then when protests break out they can stuff thousands into Midway stadium indefinitely.
ok, i am not quite serious. hell, maybe i am.

33. I really wish
the DEM's would hold the convention in NOLA. They wouldn't have to say a thing to get the point across; it would be a bold statement. It would pump much needed money in to the local economy. It would remind some DEMS and the country who we fight for. I really wish they would reconsider.

35. We took ourselves out of the running...The DNC was considering it
Nagin and the City Council said the city was not able to handle it, so we took ourselves out of contention. After seeing how well the city handled the Saints game the other night (and the 80,000 attendees and the 250K in the French Quarter), we should have taken it on.

The DNC should hold it in Oklahoma City, Topeka, Gary, some city in need, some city forgotten, some city that speaks to rural/middle America. Talk about how they bear the costs of the war, the tax cuts for the rich, most problems today. Talk about how their wages are shrinking and their tax bills growing. Talk about insurance compaines squeezing small businesses and home values.

43. Oh, man, are they ever gonna get it
A former associate of mine in the movement ended up there a number of years ago. Believe me, while she is short in stature, the combination of her plus a bullhorn is enough to freeze the marrow off the very bones of any fascists, Nazis, homophobes, misogynists, or any other menaces to society who are unfortunate enough to cross her path.

For her, this'll be like Cheney's canned hunting trip. So many reactionaries, so little time...
