Senator Says Terrorism Report Helpful for Americans
AP

Senator Pat Roberts is praising the Bush administration for releasing the latest national intelligence assessment report. Roberts is chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, which received the report back in April. The Kansas Republican had been urging the White House to declassify its key conclusions about trends in global terrorism. President Bush did just that yesterday, following a series of leaks about it.

Roberts says it's important for Americans to see a public version of the report so they can draw their own conclusions about its content. Otherwise, he says, citizens are left with a false impression that focuses only on Iraq.

The assessment says the war in Iraq is deepening resentment of the U.S. and spreading the threat from Islamic extremists. Roberts said he believed the assessment could be released without jeopardizing intelligence methods and sources.

1. Sounds like the gop planned the "leak"
so bush could get all rightious and high and mighty about releasing (little teeny tiny parts) of the report "for the good of the American People" at the urging of the chairman of the senate intelligence committee. God almighty are they scared of the November 7th elections?

2. Well given their supporters believe what they're told, they'll just LIE.
"The report shows that Iraq is the central front in the war on terror." *barf*

3. BWAAA-HAA-HAAAA
I ran off a copy of the "released" 3 pages... gave it to our resident bush supporter at work who was spouting off this morning about how this was all a plot by the evil "libruls"

I asked him if he read the released report. Of course he hadn't, so in front of the rest of group in the breakroom - I handed him a copy and then asked if anyone else wanted to see it..

there were about 10 others who wanted to see it.. (these 10 have varying interest in politics...) sooooo, I ran off additional copies and passed them around..

this was at morning break time...

now it's past lunch time.. everyone has had a chance to read it and to make up their own mind...

from our resident Bush supporter: "well, there must be more to this that wasn't published and probably cut out by the libural media."

me: ummm - this is the official released version from the Intel office headed by Negroponte and authorized by bush - no evil libural media touched it... and yes it is interesting what wasn't released. Makes you wonder what bush is hiding?

bush supporter skulks out..

comments from the others:

"I told my wife things were worse over there...."

"Don't they have a plan?"

"...snort...yeah, right and they say we're safer..."

"ya know if they spent more time doing their job rather than trying to paste happy faces on everything - something might have been accomplished..."

basically, the others expressed similar comments -- so Mr. Bush, excluding myself - we have 11 people reading your NIE, and 10 out of 11 say it's freaking terrible
