Bush counterattacks on Iraq-terrorism link
Bush counterattacks on Iraq-terrorism link
by Olivier Knox

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush on charged that it was "naive" and "a mistake" to think that the Iraq war fueled global terrorism, rejecting the reported conclusions of US spy agencies.

"My judgment is, if we weren't in Iraq, they'd find some other excuse," he said during a joint public appearance with Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai after talks at the White House.

In an angry election-year counterattack, Bush said he would make public parts of a secret US intelligence report tying Iraq and terrorism, and blasted weekend news accounts of the assessment as politically motivated leaks.

"Once again there's a leak out of our government, coming right down the stretch in this campaign in order to create confusion in the minds of the American people," he fumed, referring to November legislative elections.

5. Oh, right...
if we hadn't invaded the country, destroyed the infrastructure, looted money and treasures, bombed and killed 10's of thousands of people, tortured, raped and murdered many others, they'd have found some other excuse.

11. WHAT PARTS will he make public???
Naturally only the parts that back him up and he will 'classify' the parts that show he did nothing and that Clinton was right. Pelosi is demanding the entire report is made public, not just parts. Good luck on that idea, Nancy, but you had better make a loud and public stink about it.

12. Wait a minute. Doesn't this statement contradict what Bush has
been saying for weeks?

"My judgment is, if we weren't in Iraq, they'd find some other excuse."

Isn't this an almost direct contradiction to this statement?

"We are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here."

It seems that he can't have it both ways. Either we are over there so they don't come here, or, if we weren't there they would find some other excuse.

What's wrong with these people?

14. Only a total moran would think invading, occupying, slaughtering a nation
that had been doing nothing whatsofuckingever to anyone would NOT cause an increase in terrorism.

And gee, bush, your own government yesterday said IN FACT YES the invasion & occupation of Iraq DOES INDEED fuel increased terrorism.

15. It does not require your belief to make it true
Getting scared George? How is daddy going to get the drunken cheerleader out of this one?
This isn't as simple as having a new drivers license number replace the one that indicates DWI's,
thiis may not be as simple as getting generals to say you did not
go AWOL...How is daddy going to clear up war crimes?

Do you fear jail you gutless coward? maybe we should use your proposed interrogation techiques on you and your supporters? They can't be that bad can they?

hear that sound George, it is the sound in inevitability.....

Bush disputes Iraq war worsens terrorism

By BARRY SCHWEID, AP Diplomatic Writer 39 minutes ago

WASHINGTON -
President Bush on Tuesday said it is naive and a mistake to think that the war with
Iraq has worsened terrorism, as a key portion of a national intelligence assessment by his own administration suggests. He said he was declassifying part of the report.

"Some people have guessed what's in the report and concluded that going into Iraq was a mistake. I strongly disagree," Bush said.

He asserted that portions of the classified report that had been leaked were done so for political purposes, referring to the Nov. 7 midterm elections.

Bush announced that he had instructed National Intelligence Director John Negroponte to declassify those parts of the report that don't compromise national security or intelligence-gathering methods.
