1. He's really lucky. On the local news last night, no one thought
he'd get under 10 years.

That said, it is hard to screw up a scintilla of sympathy for either him or his wife. They rolled their own dice.

5. good thing this was not a pot smoker, he would be 25 years for a
victim-less crime. This Enron Company along with other energy companies in Texas turned-off the electricity in California and people died. Dead, gone, forever not to return and this guy pleads guilty and agrees to do 10 years so his wife would only do 1 year of jail time so they would not lose there children, now he gets only 6 years of jail time. Beyond belief!

BTW: There was a transfer of 9 billion dollars from the California Tax payers to the corporations in Texas. I hope they do not spend it in one place.

11. Ex-Enron CFO gets 6-year sentence("judge who felt he deserved leniency")
Obviously the judge didn't lose *his* entire retirement to Enron.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/092706dntexfastow.1b64a507.html

Andrew Fastow, the former Enron Corp. executive who masterminded financial schemes that led to the company's stunning collapse, was sentenced to six years in prison Tuesday by a judge who felt he deserved leniency.

Fastow, the former chief financial officer who cooperated with prosecutors in other cases stemming from the energy giant's 2001 implosion, had agreed to serve a maximum 10-year term when he pleaded guilty in 2004. But the judge said he deserved a lighter sentence because Fastow has been persecuted after Enron's failure and that his family has suffered enough.

"Prosecution is necessary, but persecution was not," said U.S. District Judge Kenneth Hoyt. "These factors call for mercy."

Before the sentencing, Rod Jordan, chairman of the Severed Enron Employee Coalition, said some former Enron workers believe Fastow should be forgiven because unlike Skilling, he admitted his guilt and "is taking his medicine."

family's feelings into consideration?

13. Oh, and the financial analyst on CNN stated it was such a tragedy
but that they did let Fastow's wife serve her 1 year sentence right away so there will be one parent with the children. :puke:

Yes, how often would courts go out of their way for "the common American."

Screw us "Chattering Classes" because all that matters to the Wall Street M$M are those within "The Investor Class." After all, what can we do, but complain. Ergo, more "bread and circuses" in the form of racist reality shows. :(

<snip>
MBA students are the biggest cheats of all graduate students, with 56 per cent admitting to misdemeanours such as using crib notes in exams, plagiarism and downloading essays from the internet.

The statistic comes from a survey of graduate students to be published in the Academy of Management Learning and Education journal. The report is based on data from about 5,300 survey respondents at 54 colleges and universities in the US and Canada, including 623 students in 32 graduate business programmes.

The report will be unpleasant reading to US business schools, many of which are still smarting from the involvement of their alumni in recent corporate scandals: Jeffrey Skilling, former chief executive of Enron, received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1979, for example.

This country is going to hell in a hand-basket, no doubt. No wonder my Econ 1 professor (who happens to be very conservative) said when coming back from Texas, "people there are strange!"

edit: did not copy a paste correctly.

It doesn't speak well for Texas or for our country.

Despicable.
